With the participation of Government leaders, Ho Chi Minh City authorities, the accompaniment of the World Economic Forum (WEF), UNESCO, and more than 500 outstanding young people, the central role of the young generation in the green and digital transformation process was affirmed, towards the goal of a strong Vietnam by 2045.
This is a special opening activity, kicking off the Autumn Economic Forum 2025, where leaders and young people will dialogue and share their vision for the future in the digital age and sustainable development.
Opening the Talkshow, Deputy Prime Minister Bui Thanh Son highly appreciated the initiative of dedicating a forum to the young generation within the framework of the Autumn Economic Forum 2025; and affirmed: "I have a strong belief that the contemporary Smart Generation of Vietnam, with the support from the Government, authorities at all levels, the companionship of international partners and the enthusiasm of Ho Chi Minh City, will certainly write new miracles. Youth is always the vanguard force of the country".

In order for Vietnam to become an upper-middle-income country by 2030 and a high-income country by 2045, the Government is resolutely implementing historic policies. In particular, focusing on three strategic breakthroughs: Breakthrough in science and technology development, innovation, digital transformation, considering this the most important driving force. Breakthrough in education and training development, human resource development (golden population force). Developing the private economy, becoming the most important driving force of the economy.
In particular, the Deputy Prime Minister affirmed that Vietnam’s greatest advantage is its more than 100 million people, especially the young generation, who are intelligent, creative, and full of enthusiasm. However, the golden population cannot be transformed into golden thinking or golden capacity if the young generation does not proactively strive to keep up with the development trends of the times.
From there, the Deputy Prime Minister sent a strong message: "I suggest that you be deeply aware of your own roles and responsibilities... No one can prepare the future for young people better than the young people themselves."

On the side of Ho Chi Minh City, Mr. Nguyen Van Duoc, Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee, affirmed the city's position as the largest economic, scientific, technological and innovation center in Vietnam. The city is playing a leading role in making breakthroughs to bring the country to develop richly and powerfully in the new era.
The Chairman of Ho Chi Minh City said that according to Resolution 57-NQ/TW and Resolution of the 11th National Congress, Ho Chi Minh City aims to become a center of innovation and knowledge economy. The ultimate goal is to build a smart, sustainable megacity of regional and international stature, and at the same time, an ideal destination for the young generation to unleash their ambitions, develop their intelligence and talents, and contribute to the city.
The Vietnamese Party and State have created the most favorable conditions in terms of institutions, decentralization, delegation of power, and granted many outstanding special policies and mechanisms to the city. These mechanisms, especially in the fields of science and technology, innovation, digital transformation, and attracting and employing talents, are the foundation for the city to grow strongly.
"The government and the city are committed to creating a playground, but you are the ones who create the game and decide the nation's victory," affirmed Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee Nguyen Van Duoc.

The talkshow focuses on conveying three core contents: Identifying the global context in the digital age, major trends shaping the future and the role of young people in the green and sustainable transformation process; Analyzing the challenges and opportunities of Vietnamese and international youth in the context of deep integration and global competition; Calling for action from stakeholders, affirming the leading role of the State, businesses and international organizations in building an ecosystem to support youth.

From an international perspective, Mr. Stephan Mergenthaler, Managing Director of the World Economic Forum (WEF), brought a global perspective on green and digital transformation, talent development and social responsibility, inspiring the spirit of Vietnamese youth in the green and digital transformation, towards sustainable development from a global perspective.
Concluding the opening ceremony, Deputy Prime Minister Bui Thanh Son expressed his hope that: “The saying ‘Where there is a need, there are young people; where there is difficulty, there are young people’ remains valid today. I hope this message will not stop in the 500-person auditorium here but spread to all young people in Vietnam and in the region, those who are and will be creating a smart, green and sustainable future for the country.”
