Female shooter Thu Vinh "scored two gold medals" for Vietnam on December 14th.

On December 14th, the Vietnamese sports delegation won an additional 5 gold medals, bringing their total to 35 gold medals at the 33rd SEA Games. The most successful event was shooting, with two gold medals in the women's team and individual events. Both of these gold medals were significantly contributed to by the Vietnamese team.

In the women's 10m air pistol team event, Thu Vinh, along with her teammates Nguyen Thuy Trang and Trieu Thi Hoa Hong, brilliantly won the gold medal and simultaneously broke the SEA Games record with a score of 1,711 points in the morning.

Just a few hours later, Thu Vinh once again etched her name in the gold medal table by winning the women's 10m pistol individual event with a score of 242.7 points. This achievement also broke the SEA Games record. In the same event, Nguyen Thuy Trang won the silver medal. Notably, this was Thu Vinh's first individual gold medal at the SEA Games.

Following their successful debut in shooting, Karate continued its winning streak at the 33rd SEA Games. The golden girls of Vietnamese sports, Nguyen Thi Dieu Ly, Hoang Thi My Tam, and Nguyen Thi Thu, defeated Thailand 2-0 in the women's team Kumite final to brilliantly secure another gold medal.

Bowling also made history, with Tran Hoang Khoi defeating his Thai opponent in the men's singles final to win the gold medal. The final gold medal of the day for the Vietnamese sports delegation came from swimming. Swimmer Pham Thanh Bao successfully defended his gold medal in the men's 200m breaststroke at the SEA Games, finishing first in the final heat with a time of 2 minutes 12.81 seconds.

At 7:20 PM, in athletics , Nguyen Thanh Ngung won the bronze medal in the men's 20km race walk.

At 7:15 PM, in swimming, Vietnam won the bronze medal in the women's 4x200m freestyle relay with a time of 8 minutes 14.22 seconds. The Vietnamese women's team swimmers included: Kha Nhi, My Tien, Pham Thi Van, and Thuy Hien.

At 6:27 PM, in the football match , the Vietnamese women's national team secured their place in the final after a 5-0 victory over Indonesia.

At 6 PM, in weightlifting , athlete Nguyen Duc Toan won the bronze medal in the men's 71 kg category with a total lift of 305 kg.

At 5:20 PM, in Bowling , Tran Hoang Khoi defeated his Thai opponent in the men's singles final to win another gold medal for Vietnam.

At 2:50 PM, Karate athletes Nguyen Thi Dieu Ly, Hoang Thi My Tam, and Nguyen Thi Thu helped the Vietnamese team defeat Thailand 2-0 in the women's team Kumite final to win the gold medal.

At 9:20, in swimming, Jeremie Loic Nino Luong also qualified for the final after finishing 4th in the men's 50m butterfly qualifying round with a time of 24.39 seconds.

At 9:10 AM, in swimming, Nguyen Thuy Hien completed the qualifying round of the women's 50m freestyle with a time of 26.35 seconds to secure a spot in the final to compete for a medal.

The star of the day is shooter Trinh Thu Vinh - a star of Vietnamese sports at the 2024 Paris Olympics - who will compete on December 14th at the 33rd SEA Games.

Specifically, she will compete in her specialty event, the 10m air pistol. It's worth noting that this is the event that earned Thu Vinh her ticket to the 2024 Paris Olympics, where she finished 5th at the 2023 World Championships (in this event). A year later, Thu Vinh won the gold medal in the 10m air pistol at the 2024 Asian Championships.

Despite her outstanding performance, the female shooter from Thanh Hoa province has never won a SEA Games gold medal, even though she has participated in the regional sporting event twice.

At the 31st SEA Games, she only won a bronze medal in the individual 10m air pistol event and a silver medal in the team event. Therefore, Trinh Thu Vinh will be very determined at this SEA Games.

Besides Thu Vinh, Asiad 19 champion Pham Quang Huy will also compete today in his specialty event, the men's 10m air pistol.

The high level of determination also comes from the beautiful female archer Do Thi Anh Nguyet, after missing out on the SEA Games two years ago.

Besides archery and shooting, swimming and athletics continue to be the focus of the competition day on December 14th. The speed races of athletics will temporarily give way to the marathon and the 20km walk – two events that symbolize endurance.
