The day-long event, held in a deserted area of San Francisco, is attracting hundreds of AI developers from around the world . After operating in relative silence for years, OpenAI kicked off the AI craze last November by releasing ChatGPT.
Backed by billions of dollars from Microsoft, OpenAI has become for many the default choice for creative AI, helping users create papers, contracts, travel itineraries, and even novels.
OpenAI is expected to announce updates focused on cutting costs for its developers. The cost cuts address a major concern for partners who need to spend money on OpenAI’s powerful models as they try to build sustainable businesses by developing and selling AI software.
The new update will also allow OpenAI's software to analyze images and describe them, and let developers build apps with new applications in areas ranging from entertainment to medicine.
These updates are designed to encourage companies to use OpenAI's technology to build AI-powered chatbots that can perform tasks without human intervention.
