Becoming the first state-owned corporation to receive the Carbon Neutral Certification according to PAS 2060:2014 is a pioneering milestone demonstrating Petrolimex's strong commitment to the journey of sustainable development and green transition. Over the years, the Corporation has proactively implemented a series of specific solutions to reduce emissions and improve energy efficiency such as: Providing clean fuel products that meet the highest standards in Vietnam; developing new energy infrastructure including electric vehicle charging stations, battery swapping stations, installing solar power at retail stores and petrol depots; participating in the project to create carbon credits from the distribution of water filters to remote and isolated areas; and, in particular, implementing greenhouse gas inventories and action plans to reduce emissions across the entire system according to international standards.

Speaking at the ceremony, Mr. Pham Van Thanh - Chairman of Petrolimex Board of Directors emphasized that the Group's receipt of the Carbon Neutrality Certificate is an important milestone affirming its efforts, commitment and responsibility in reducing greenhouse gas emissions, towards the goal of sustainable development, carbon neutrality and Net Zero that the Vietnamese Government committed to at COP26.

He emphasized that the cooperation between Petrolimex and BSI is a typical demonstration of the role of international standards and technical expertise in supporting Vietnamese enterprises to meet global climate goals. This is also part of the strategic partnership between the UK and Vietnam, especially within the framework of international initiatives such as the Just Energy Transition Partnership (JETP).

Completing the Group-wide greenhouse gas inventory is an important step, helping Petrolimex accurately assess emissions, as a basis for developing effective emission reduction strategies and implementing sustainable development commitments in a transparent manner.

From achieving international standards on greenhouse gas inventory to carbon neutral certification according to PAS 2060:2014, Petrolimex affirms the pioneering role of a State-owned enterprise in transparency of greenhouse gas emissions, realizing the commitment to carbon neutrality, and actively contributing to the national and global sustainable development goals.
