
Associate Professor Dr. Huynh Thanh Dat presented the decision to appoint the Rector of Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology - VNU to Associate Professor Dr. Mai Thanh Phong
On the morning of May 14, Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology - VNU-HCM held a ceremony to announce the decision to appoint the Rector of Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology - VNU-HCM.
Previously, on April 26, the Director of Ho Chi Minh City National University signed a decision to appoint Associate Professor Dr. Mai Thanh Phong to hold the position of Rector of Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology - Ho Chi Minh City National University to replace Professor Dr. Vu Dinh Thanh who has passed the management age.

Associate Professor, Dr. Mai Thanh Phong was born in 1972 in Ha Tinh. He holds a PhD in Chemical Engineering from Otto-von-Guericke University Magdeburg, Germany. In 2014, Associate Professor, Dr. Mai Thanh Phong was appointed Vice Rector of Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology in charge of science, technology and foreign affairs. During this time, he also held the position of Director of the Technology Enterprise Incubation Center, Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology - VNU.
Speaking at the announcement ceremony, Associate Professor Dr. Mai Thanh Phong said that in the coming time, the school will carry out a number of key tasks such as: Implementing university autonomy, developing staff, continuing to improve training quality, improving the quality and efficiency of science and technology activities, and strengthening international and business cooperation.
Regarding the implementation of university autonomy, Associate Professor Dr. Thanh Phong said that the school will aim to build and operate according to the model of autonomy and self-responsibility based on the policy of granting autonomy to public universities of the government as well as of Ho Chi Minh City National University. Thereby, effectively managing and sustainably developing resources (human resources, finance, facilities, intelligence; creating a creative, friendly and modern working, learning and research environment.
