On June 2, Quang Binh Provincial Police dismantled a gambling ring worth more than 200 billion VND.

After a period of focused verification, the police forces divided into 4 working groups to summon and fight against the subjects in the provinces of Quang Binh, Binh Duong and Binh Phuoc.

In Quang Binh, the police summoned and fought with Hoang Trong Hieu (born in 1987), Hoang The Dung (born in 1994), both residing in Quang Hoa commune, and Mai Vinh Hanh (born in 2003), Cao Bau (born in 2003), both residing in Quang Van commune, Ba Don town.

In Binh Duong, the working group summoned and fought with Hoang Van Hung (born in 1992), residing in Quang Hoa commune, and Hoang The Anh (born in 2000), Mai Van Vu (born in 2003), both residing in Quang Van commune, Ba Don town, Quang Binh province, to verify and persuade a subject operating in Binh Phuoc province to surrender.

These subjects all admitted to gambling through online games.

Hoang Van Hung, Hoang Trong Hieu, and Hoang The Dung played the role of masterminds, leaders, preparing tools, means, and providing capital for a number of other subjects to directly gamble with agents and game publishers. The results, whether winning or losing, were divided 50-50.

In addition, the police also summoned and fought with 15 other related subjects, persuading 2 subjects to surrender, most of whom admitted to gambling or assisting the main subjects in the gambling case using games.

The task force summoned and fought with Mai Huu Phuoc (born in 1989) and Tran Hai Dang (born in 1993), both residing in Ba Don ward, Ba Don town. Through the fight, it was clarified that Mai Huu Phuoc gave Tran Hai Dang an Agent-level football betting account to gamble. The gambling winnings and losses were paid directly by Dang and Phuoc or through bank accounts.

The Task Force seized 62 mobile phones of various types used for gambling. At the time of inspection, the mobile phones containing game accounts were found to contain approximately 400,000,000 game points, equivalent to VND400 million; VND200,000,000 in transactions in football betting accounts. In addition, VND5 million in cash and many other related documents were also temporarily seized.

Currently, the Provincial Police Investigation Agency has initiated two gambling cases with nine defendants.

During the investigation, the Investigation Committee determined that this was a gambling organization and gambling ring on an inter-provincial and transnational scale with a huge amount of money (from the end of 2022 to February 2023 alone, it was more than 200 billion VND), operating very sophisticatedly, taking full advantage of high technology to connect and conduct gambling activities in cyberspace.
