AgriS Gia Lai will start sugarcane pressing season earlier than previous years.

Attending the conference were Dr. Cao Anh Duong - Director of the Vietnam Sugar Cane Research Institute; leaders of communes in the raw material area; and nearly 1,000 sugar cane farming households who have been associated with the company for many years.

At the conference, representatives from AgriS Gia Lai Agricultural Joint Stock Company (AgriS Gia Lai) stated that for the 2024-2025 crushing season, the average sugarcane yield in the company's raw material area will reach 75 tons/ha, with a total sugarcane production of over 1.1 million tons, higher than the 2023-2024 crushing season.

The conference commended sugarcane farmers who had many initiatives and applied scientific and technical methods to sugarcane cultivation processes, achieving high yields and quality in the 2024-2025 crop year.

One of the activities that attracts the participation of a large number of sugarcane growers is the Sugarcane Beauty Pageant. In this contest, farmers select beautiful sugarcane plants to share their effective cultivation experiences, which can be widely applied to develop sugarcane farming in a sustainable way.

Currently, AgriS Gia Lai's sugarcane growing area covers 19,000 hectares, distributed across 16 communes and wards. Thanks to favorable weather conditions, the sugarcane plants are growing and developing well. The average sugarcane yield this year is expected to reach 78 tons/hectare, an increase of 3 tons/hectare compared to the 2024-2025 crushing season; the projected sugarcane production is estimated at over 1.4 million tons, meeting the operating capacity of 8,000 tons/day.

To ensure the procurement of the entire sugarcane acreage in the raw material area, AgriS Gia Lai plans to start the crushing season earlier than in previous years.

At the conference, representatives from AgriS Gia Lai answered questions from sugarcane farmers to ensure a harmonious balance of interests between both parties. In particular, in the context of declining sugar prices on the market, AgriS Gia Lai committed to purchasing sugarcane at a guaranteed minimum price of 1 million VND/ton for 10CCS sugarcane from this crushing season until the 2027-2028 crop year.
