Lam Dong Provincial Chairman dialogues with more than 5,000 farmers

More than 5,000 farmers attended the dialogue conference online and directly with the Chairman of Lam Dong Provincial People's Committee, discussing solutions for sustainable agricultural development.

On the afternoon of December 2, a conference was held between the Chairman of Lam Dong Provincial People's Committee and farmers in 2025. The conference was held in person and online with 124 communes, wards and special zones in the area.

Attending the conference were Mr. Nguyen Tien Cuong, Member of the Standing Committee of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Farmers' Union , Deputy Head of the Farmers' Affairs Department (Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front). On the local side, there were Chairman of Lam Dong Provincial People's Committee Ho Van Muoi, Vice Chairmen of the Provincial People's Committee, leaders of departments, branches, units and localities.

Notably, the conference had more than 5,000 farmers representing 348,600 farmer members, cooperatives, cooperatives, and farms in the province attending at connecting points in the province.

With the theme “Supporting farmers to develop sustainable agriculture to adapt to climate change”, the conference is a forum for farmers, cooperatives, and businesses operating in the agricultural sector to reflect their thoughts and aspirations to the People's Committee and the Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee. This is also an opportunity for provincial leaders, departments, branches, and commune-level authorities to listen to and receive opinions and suggestions from officials, farmer members, managers, scientists, businesses, and cooperatives, thereby contributing to promoting the socio -economic development of Lam Dong province.

Speaking at the conference, Chairman of Lam Dong Provincial People's Committee Ho Van Muoi said that this is the first dialogue conference after the merger, an opportunity for the government and farmers to meet, share and grasp aspirations in the new context.

According to Mr. Ho Van Muoi, in the past few days, Lam Dong as well as many other provinces and cities in the country have been affected and suffered great damage due to floods. “The leaders of Lam Dong province sympathize with the pain and loss of life and property of farmers. The central and local governments are especially concerned about the situation of the people, especially the farmers who suffered great damage, and hope that they will soon overcome the situation to stabilize their lives,” Chairman of the Provincial People’s Committee Ho Van Muoi shared.

Mr. Ho Van Muoi emphasized: After the merger, Lam Dong has many advantages, especially in agriculture, forestry and fishery. The province identifies agriculture, rural areas and farmers as the pillars of the economy.

However, agricultural production is still fragmented, small-scale, and lacks the linkages to attract large corporations; digital transformation is slow and unsynchronized. This requires innovative thinking, improved production capacity, and increased cooperation.

Lam Dong identifies farmers as the center of the transition to green, circular and smart agriculture. The province is implementing many programs and policies to promote this field. In the immediate future, the province recommends that departments, branches, businesses and farmers focus on solutions: minimizing natural disaster risks, adapting to climate change; applying science and technology, promoting digital transformation and developing smart agriculture; improving the quality, value and competitiveness of agricultural products; developing cooperative economy and increasing production - processing - consumption linkages...

The Chairman of Lam Dong Provincial People's Committee said that farmers and the government need to share openly and frankly. Departments, branches and localities must proactively resolve problems and remove difficulties for people. That spirit of companionship will create a sustainable connection between the government and farmers in the new period.
