The program also combines a ceremony to honor outstanding blood donors and a Blood Donation Festival with the theme “Red Drops from the City Named After Uncle Ho”. This is also one of the activities in response to the “Red Drops of Blood-Summer” Campaign and International Blood Donor Day (June 14).
Within the framework of the program, the Organizing Committee aims to mobilize 5,000 people to register to donate blood, organize many mobile and fixed blood donation points during the launching week with the expectation of receiving about 1,000 units of blood for emergency and treatment purposes.
Speaking at the program, Mr. Tran Truong Son, Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City Red Cross Society, said that over the past 30 years, the city has received more than 3.5 million units of blood, accounting for nearly 1/5 of the total blood received nationwide, contributing to the treatment of millions of patients.

This year, the City's Steering Committee for Voluntary Blood Donation continues to direct and organize participation on the largest scale during the summer, striving to collect 50,000 units of blood.
The “Red Journey” program in 2025 not only contributes to ensuring a safe and timely blood source for medical work, but is also an opportunity to spread the spirit of humanity, connecting millions of hearts sharing for the community, thereby affirming the pioneering role of Ho Chi Minh City in the voluntary blood donation movement, for a healthy and humane Vietnam.
Red Journey is a national voluntary blood donation program chaired by the National Institute of Hematology and Blood Transfusion, in coordination with the Office of the National Steering Committee, VTVCorp Joint Stock Company and blood transfusion centers, the Red Cross Society in 49 Province and city coordinate organization.
2025 is the 13th year the program is organized (from May 30 to July 30, 2025) with the consistent message: "Connecting Vietnamese blood", expected to organize more than 300 blood donation points, receiving about 100,000 units of blood nationwide.
From 2013 to 2024, Red Journey has strongly spread the message "Donate blood to save lives - A noble act", organized more than 3,000 blood donation points, received nearly 940 thousand units of blood. In 2024 alone, the campaign set a record with more than 128 thousand units of blood at 341 blood donation points.
In the program to honor outstanding blood donors nationwide in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City, 8 delegates, along with 18 groups and 6 families that donated blood many times, were honored by the Central Committee of the Vietnam Red Cross Society .
