In the context of strong tourism recovery after the Covid-19 pandemic, Phan Thiet has identified ensuring security and safety for tourists and people as a key task in the city's sustainable tourism development strategy. Therefore, Phan Thiet City has drastically and synchronously implemented measures to build a "safe - friendly - attractive" tourism environment, from which the number of visitors to Phan Thiet has increased sharply.

Statistics show that in 2021, due to the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic, tourism activities in Phan Thiet were greatly affected. The number of visitors to the city in the year only reached 1.6 million. However, from 2022, Phan Thiet tourism recorded a clear recovery. The number of visitors to Phan Thiet in 2022 reached 5.2 million, an increase of more than 3 times compared to the previous year, with revenue reaching 12,235 billion VND. The growth momentum continued to be maintained in 2023 with 6.2 million visitors and more than 6.8 million visitors in 2024. In the first 6 months of this year alone, Phan Thiet reached 3.7 million visitors, an increase of nearly 9% over the same period, with revenue estimated at about 9,800 billion VND, an increase of 20% over the same period.

According to the City People's Committee, the above results were achieved thanks to the efforts of all levels and sectors from the province to the grassroots level in implementing measures and solutions to promote tourism, especially the Project "Ensuring security and safety in tourism activities" of Phan Thiet city which was seriously and synchronously implemented. Implementing this project, from 2021 to 2025, the police, military and border forces maintained close coordination in patrolling, controlling, preventing and suppressing crimes. The functional sectors also strengthened market control, ensuring order in buying and selling activities at tourist destinations, handling street vending and illegal advertising. Over 5 years of implementing this project, in key tourism localities in the city, 71 incidents occurred, cases related to theft, scuffles... but were all promptly intervened and handled by the functional forces.

At the same time, to create a foundation for long-term tourism development, Phan Thiet has also implemented a series of infrastructure projects to serve tourism such as: renovating Ong Dia Stone area, upgrading Nguyen Dinh Chieu - Huynh Thuc Khang street, repairing Van Thuy Tu Palace, renovating Doi Duong park and Water Tower park, building a centralized wastewater treatment system at Mui Ne National Tourist Area. The city also organized 51 campaigns to clean up the marine environment, punish illegal discharges, and implement environmental sanitation commitments to more than 32,000 households. Food safety and hygiene, and market price control continue to receive attention and direction, especially during peak tourist seasons, and strictly handle violations.

In addition, the Tourism Management Boards also coordinated with the authorities to step up patrols, inspections, and warnings to hundreds of businesses that did not comply with regulations; handled 13 cases of setting up tents, canopies, and arbitrarily installing soft wave-blocking embankments that did not comply with regulations. At the same time, mobilized each tourist facility to equip additional scales to check the weight of goods when requested by customers... All together contribute to building and maintaining a healthy and safe tourism environment in the hearts of domestic and international tourists.
