Speaking at the Yunnan International Friendship Cities Conference 2025, Vice Chairman of Lao Cai Provincial People's Committee - Nguyen Thanh Sinh emphasized: Lao Cai Province wishes to strengthen cooperation with provinces and cities of other countries in the fields of trade, tourism, agriculture and processing industry, manufacturing, electronic components, mining, deep processing of minerals, etc.

On the morning of June 20, continuing the program of the working trip to Yunnan province (China) and attending the opening ceremony of the 9th China - South Asia Fair, the 29th Kunming Import-Export Fair, the delegation of Lao Cai province including comrades: Nguyen Thanh Sinh, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee; Duong Duc Huy, Standing Committee member, Head of the Provincial Party Committee's Propaganda and Mass Mobilization Commission; leaders of a number of departments, branches and sectors of the province attended the Yunnan International Friendship Cities Conference 2025.

Speaking at the conference, Mr. Nguyen Thanh Sinh, Vice Chairman of Lao Cai Provincial People's Committee, expressed his joy and highly appreciated the significance of this conference. This is not only an opportunity for localities to share experiences in socio -economic development, but also contributes to enhancing understanding, expanding cooperation and tightening solidarity and friendship between countries and between local people.

Comrade Nguyen Thanh Sinh emphasized: Lao Cai province and Yunnan province, mountains connect mountains, rivers connect rivers, the people of the two sides have a long-standing traditional friendship and exchange relationship. Over the years, with the joint efforts of both sides, the friendship and comprehensive cooperation between the two provinces have continuously developed and achieved positive and comprehensive results. Exchanges and contacts at all levels between Lao Cai province and Yunnan province have taken place regularly, in a practical and effective manner. Foreign affairs and cooperation activities in the fields of economy, trade,education , culture, sports, and people-to-people exchange have been promoted and have many innovations. Thereby, the traditional friendship between Lao Cai province (Vietnam) and Yunnan province (China) has been further deepened.

From that beautiful picture of friendship, along with the strategic location in the economic corridor of Kunming - Lao Cai - Hanoi - Hai Phong - Quang Ninh, an important "gateway" connecting countries in the ASEAN region with the Southwest region of China, the import and export value through Lao Cai province has witnessed strong growth and tourism development.

To realize the orientation of "building Lao Cai to become a growth pole of the Northern Midlands and Mountains; a center for economic trade connection between Vietnam and ASEAN countries with the Southwest region of China", in addition to the province's continuous efforts, Lao Cai is looking forward to receiving support from domestic and foreign partners, especially strengthening cooperation with provinces and cities of other countries in some key areas such as trade, tourism, agriculture, industry, etc.

The province is committed to creating the most favorable conditions to attract investment from other countries in its strengths such as: Transport infrastructure, logistics, industrial parks and processing - manufacturing, especially enterprises from Yunnan province (China)...

The Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee suggested that localities share experiences and support tourism promotion; coordinate to connect businesses of both sides to promote investment in the tourism sector; promote the organization of tourist groups to survey the Lao Cai tourism market, as well as support the promotion of Lao Cai tourism in other countries. Along with that, strengthen cooperation with localities in applying advanced farming technology, automation in agricultural production and developing sustainable value chains.

Comrade Nguyen Thanh Sinh said that with the role of a "gateway", Lao Cai does not stop at bilateral relations with Yunnan province but wishes to become an important connection point between Chinese localities and countries in the Southeast Asian region, contributing to the common prosperity of the whole region. Believing that, with the support and close cooperation with provinces and cities of other countries, Lao Cai will continue to develop strongly, becoming an attractive destination for investors, tourists and a solid bridge for friendship between countries.

Also at the conference, the Department of Industry and Trade of Lao Cai province (Vietnam) and the Department of Commerce of Yunnan province (China) agreed on the contents and signed a memorandum of understanding on cooperation to jointly promote the construction of the Lao Cai (Vietnam) - Yunnan (China) cross-border economic cooperation zone, aiming to enhance bilateral economic and trade exchange and cooperation (photo above) .
