Tonight, Foreign Ministry spokesperson Pham Thu Hang answered a reporter's question asking about Vietnam's reaction to the US attack on several Iranian nuclear facilities in the early morning of June 22 (Vietnam time).
The Foreign Ministry spokesperson stated: "Vietnam is deeply concerned about the complicated and escalating conflict in the Middle East, which seriously threatens the lives and safety of civilians, and peace and stability in the region and the world ."
Vietnam calls on relevant parties to immediately end military actions, including attacks on nuclear facilities, continue negotiation efforts, resolve disagreements by peaceful means, on the basis of international law, especially the United Nations Charter, respect for sovereignty and territorial integrity of nations, International Humanitarian Law and regulations of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA).
On June 21, US President Donald Trump announced that the US military had launched airstrikes on three key Iranian nuclear facilities: Fordow, Natanz and Esfahan.
The US deployed B-2 bombers flying for 37 hours continuously from a base in Missouri across the Pacific Ocean to drop 12 14-ton GBU-57 MOP bombs on Iran's Fordow nuclear facility. US submarines also launched 30 Tomahawk cruise missiles at the remaining two facilities.
This is the first time the US has carried out airstrikes on nuclear facilities in Iran, marking Washington's direct involvement in the ongoing conflict between Tehran and Tel Aviv.
The international community has expressed concern over increasingly complicated developments in the Middle East.
