France supports Vietnam in first aid training in peacekeeping operations

In this training course, trainees will be provided with an overview of battlefield first aid in the United Nations peacekeeping environment.

On the morning of December 1, the opening ceremony of the 2025 level 1 combat emergency training course supported by France took place at the Vietnam Peacekeeping Department, Ministry of National Defense (Hanoi).

Taking place from December 1-5, 2025, the training course aims to equip knowledge and skills of battlefield first aid as required by the United Nations for forces preparing to deploy to participate in United Nations peacekeeping operations as individuals and officers and employees of the Vietnam Peacekeeping Department related to training and military medical support.

This is the second level 1 combat first aid training course supported by France for the Vietnam Peacekeeping Department.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Major General Pham Manh Thang, Director of the Vietnam Peacekeeping Department, thanked the French Defense Attaché Office in Vietnam and the French expert delegation for facilitating the organization of this important training course, and hoped that France would continue to cooperate and support Vietnam's UN peacekeeping force in the future.

The Director of the Vietnam Peacekeeping Department expressed his belief that with the enthusiastic support, professionalism, knowledge and professional experience of French experts, Vietnamese trainees will acquire and accumulate the necessary knowledge, skills and experience in battlefield first aid, preparing them to successfully complete the tasks assigned by the Ministry of National Defense and the United Nations when deployed to the mission areas.

Emphasizing the extremely important role of battlefield first aid training for forces participating in United Nations peacekeeping operations to ensure safety of life and operational efficiency in increasingly complex, risky and dangerous mission environments, Colonel Anne Brun, French Defense Attaché in Vietnam, affirmed that the French Ministry of the Army attaches great importance to supporting Vietnam in participating in United Nations peacekeeping operations to contribute to strengthening bilateral defense cooperation, demonstrating the comprehensive strategic partnership between the two countries.

In this training course, trainees will be provided with an overview of battlefield first aid in the environment of United Nations peacekeeping operations such as basic principles of first aid on the battlefield, evacuation of injured people from danger, treatment of critical wounds, treatment of airway problems, monitoring of respiratory problems, coordination in battlefield first aid; performing first aid at the front line, tactical first aid on the battlefield, emergency care in tactical evacuation; practicing exercises according to hypothetical situations.../.
