Launching the contest "Youth action to respond to climate change and prevent natural disasters"

Comrade Le Ngoc Ngan Linh, Collaborator of the Management Board of the Tra Vinh City Development Support Program, guides the Youth Union members to install PDG software to write the contest entry.

Attending the launching ceremony of the contest were Ms. Nguyen Thi Dung, Deputy Head of Economic Department, Deputy Head of the Management Board of the Development Support Program of Tra Vinh City; leaders of the People's Committees of wards and communes; 65 Youth Union members in Ward 8, Ward 9 and Long Duc Commune.

The contest is open to all individuals who are capable of writing news, articles and uploading them to the PDG software, with priority given to young people. Individuals send news, articles, vivid and clear illustrations that are relevant to the content of the article and the contest theme to the project's PDG software.

Time to submit news and articles is from 01 - 25 every month. Every month, the Organizing Committee will select 04 news/articles with quality information content and will be considered for awards in the 01st week of the following month. The contest starts from 05 - 12/2023 sponsored by ActionAid Vietnam (AAV).

At the launching ceremony, the staff of the Development Support Program Management Board introduced the application of information and early warning software for natural disaster risks (PDG), instructions on using the functions and features of the PDG software, notes when using the software, the ability to apply knowledge to life, the utility of the PDG software (updating news on natural disasters and climate change, managing information on livelihood models, emergency disaster warnings, early warnings, updating market information), the purpose of posting articles on the PDG software, scoring criteria, practicing using all the functions of the software according to hypothetical natural disaster risk situations in the hall, instructions on how to write and post news and articles.

The content of the entries must be relevant to the theme of disaster risk reduction (landslides; storms and tornadoes; drought and salinity intrusion) and adaptation to local climate change, including livelihood models...

The objective of the competition is to increase the interest and awareness of the community, especially young people, about natural disaster risks and climate change through the natural disaster risk information and early warning software (PDG). Increase the number of people accessing, installing and using the PDG software to collect and share information related to natural disaster risks and climate change, thereby enriching the database on natural disaster prevention and control in the locality.
