This is an important event within the framework of annual activities to promote propaganda on economical and efficient use of energy, contributing to the implementation of national goals on energy saving, environmental protection and sustainable development.

In recent years, the Ministry of Industry and Trade , as the industry management agency, has actively and synchronously implemented many solutions to bring the Law on Efficient and Economical Use of Energy into life, from developing documents guiding its implementation, issuing regulations and standards on energy efficiency; supporting businesses to improve the efficiency of electricity use in energy-consuming industries to promoting propaganda to raise awareness and promote energy-saving actions throughout society.

With that effort, together with the joint efforts of the entire political system, business community and people, the National Target Program on Energy Saving and Efficiency for the period 2016-2020 has helped the whole country save about 5.65% of total energy consumption, equivalent to billions of kWh of electricity. Regarding the electricity saving movement, the annual commercial electricity saving output has continuously increased from 1.5% in 2015 to over 2% from 2020 to present.

In 2025, the national power system will continue to face great pressure when the economy is expected to grow by over 8% and electricity demand may increase by 12 to 13% or even higher.

In the context of limited electricity supply, saving electricity is no longer an option, but an urgent imperative to ensure stable development for the country as well as realize the strong commitment to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 2050.

To meet the electricity demand for socio-economic development, in addition to directing the work of ensuring electricity, the Ministry of Industry and Trade is actively implementing synchronous solutions: adjusting the electricity development plan, promoting the competitive electricity market, perfecting the legal corridor, including considering amending the Law on Economical and Efficient Use of Energy, to strengthen mandatory regulations, create a more effective monitoring and enforcement mechanism.

At the same time, promote propaganda and practice of electricity saving in depth, with key focus and consider this an important and urgent solution.

Speaking at the launching ceremony, the representative of the Department of Innovation, Green Transformation and Industrial Promotion emphasized: "Electricity saving is not only the responsibility of the electricity sector or state management agencies, but also a common task of the whole society, from each family, each business to organizations and communities. The Electricity Saving Propaganda Contest 2025 is organized to arouse the proactive and creative spirit of all classes of people in conveying the message of electricity saving, contributing to reducing pressure on the national power system, ensuring energy security for socio-economic development in 2025 and the following years, adapting to international commitments on the environment, responding to climate change".

The 2025 Electricity Saving Propaganda Contest focuses on encouraging initiatives, models, and practical stories about electricity saving implemented in the community, from the smallest actions in each family to creative solutions in agencies, businesses, and localities.

Through the contest, the Organizing Committee hopes to find and honor outstanding "propagandists" who are capable of inspiring and spreading the message of saving electricity in the most effective and creative way to everyone around them. This is not only a talent contest but also a forum to share experiences and replicate successful models of saving electricity in the community.

The 2025 Electricity Saving Propaganda Contest is organized in a theatrical form. Accordingly, all officials and employees in energy enterprises such as Vietnam Electricity Group, Vietnam National Coal-Mineral Industries Group, Vietnam National Energy Industry Group...; organizations, educational institutions of the Industry and Trade sector and all people can participate in the contest. Accordingly, contestants can create content in various forms with video clips of 5-10 minutes in length, with content that conveys the purpose of the contest. The entries will be evaluated through many rounds by a prestigious jury, including leading experts in the fields of energy, communications, and cinema.

The evaluation process is conducted in a transparent, objective and fair manner, based on criteria such as creativity and originality; scientific accuracy; aesthetics and form, communication effectiveness and practical application.

From the entries, the Jury will select 22 works to award prizes, including 1 special prize, 1 first prize, 3 second prizes, 4 third prizes, and 10 consolation prizes. The Jury will also award prizes to the team with the most audience votes: the prize for the unit with the most participating works and the prize for the team with the best costumes.
