The play 'Against the current of peace' honors heroes in everyday life

As part of a series of events to celebrate the 80th anniversary of the Vietnam People's Public Security Forces' Traditional Day (August 19, 1945 - August 19, 2025) and the 20th anniversary of the National Day for National Security Protection (August 19, 2005 - August 19, 2025), Hanoi City Police and the Vietnam Fire Prevention, Fighting and Rescue Association (PCCC & CNCH) in collaboration with the Vietnam Drama Theater recently organized a performance and introduction of the play "Against the Peaceful Current". The performance was held at the Vietnam-Soviet Friendship Cultural Palace (Hanoi).

Speaking at the opening ceremony and introducing the play “Against the Peaceful Current”, Major General Nguyen Hong Ky, Deputy Director of Hanoi City Police, affirmed: “This is one of 22 significant major activities of the capital’s police force towards the traditional day, expressing gratitude and honoring the image of the people’s police force in general, and the fire prevention, firefighting and rescue police force in particular.”

The play “Against the Peaceful Direction”, composed by Thien An and directed by Meritorious Artist Kieu Minh Hieu (Deputy Director in charge of the Vietnam Drama Theater), was inspired by true stories of firefighters in the Fire Prevention, Fire Fighting and Rescue Police Force. The work realistically depicts the image of firefighters - those who “go against the direction of peace” to rush into the red fire and black smoke, fighting for people's lives from danger, pain and darkness.

Sharing at the play's premiere, Mr. Nguyen Do Tung Cuong - Chairman of the Vietnam Fire Prevention and Rescue Association emphasized: "The play "Against the Peaceful Current" carries deep humanistic values ​​and social significance, clearly depicting the silent but noble sacrifices of the fire prevention, fighting and rescue police officers. The play not only vividly and realistically recreates the image of those silent heroes in everyday life - but also spreads a strong message about their courage, spirit of sacrifice and ideals of service for the safety and peace of the people."

From an artistic perspective, the play is not only a story about the profession, but also the hearts of the artists - those who have devoted all their hearts to retelling the image of firefighters through theatrical language, as well as to convey an important message: each citizen is the "first shield" in fire prevention, fire fighting and rescue work.

“A small fire, if stopped in time, can prevent many unpredictable dangers” - Deputy Director of Hanoi City Police shared. He affirmed the key importance of prevention and proactive awareness in each citizen. This short but concise statement not only reflects the reality of fire prevention and rescue operations, but is also a profound reminder: fire prevention does not start when there is a fire, but from preparation, awareness and daily actions of the community.

Therefore, in addition to the efforts and sacrifices of the Fire Prevention and Rescue Police Force, the core to protect social peace is to build a “fire protection shield from the people”, from each household, agency, and enterprise. This is also the message that the play “Against the Peaceful Current” wants to convey - not only to admire but also to act together.

The President of the Vietnam Fire Prevention, Fighting and Rescue Association said that the Association coordinated to organize this program as a deep gratitude from the community to the soldiers who face danger day and night to protect the peace of society.
