Launching the National Humanitarian Month 2025

Humanitarian Month 2025 is associated with a series of important events such as the 135th anniversary of President Ho Chi Minh's birthday (May 19, 1890 - May 19, 2025), the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification (April 30, 1975 - April 30, 2025) and is an opportunity for all people to promote the tradition of patriotism, the spirit of solidarity, humanity, and contribute to building a compassionate community and sustainable development.

The Central Committee of the Vietnam Red Cross Society coordinated with the People's Committee of Ho Chi Minh City to organize the launching ceremony of the National Humanitarian Month 2025.

Speaking at the ceremony, Mr. Do Van Chien, Politburo member, Secretary of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of the Party Committee of the Fatherland Front, Central organizations, Chairman of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front emphasized that with the tradition of solidarity, humanity, and affection, the Vietnam Red Cross Society founded by Uncle Ho in 1946 has become a core organization in the humanitarian cause, a reliable bridge between the Party, the State and the people in the context of the country entering a new era with many advantages but also many potential difficulties and challenges such as climate change, natural disasters, epidemics...

Accordingly, the Vietnam Red Cross Society needs to continue to innovate its thinking and methods of operation, closely follow reality, closely connect with vulnerable groups, ensure professional, transparent and compassionate humanitarian principles; at the same time, it needs to actively expand international cooperation, effectively connect with domestic and foreign organizations and individuals, deploy early forecasting and rapid response models to provide timely support in all situations. Gradually build a humanitarian foundation that adapts to the general trend of the world, contributing to building an inclusive society where no one is left behind.

Within the framework of the National Launching Ceremony of Humanitarian Month 2025, on May 7-8, the Central Committee of the Vietnam Red Cross Society coordinated with the Ho Chi Minh City Red Cross Society to organize many activities such as: Offering incense at historical sites; offering flowers to report the merits of President Ho Chi Minh at the President Ho Chi Minh Monument; organizing humanitarian activities to support the community...

With the meaning of "The peak month of all people doing humanitarian work", this year's Humanitarian Month continues to promote the positive results achieved in the Humanitarian Month in recent years, spreading charitable activities, expanding the network of sharing, connecting the community, demonstrating a profound humanitarian spirit to support the community, especially those in difficult circumstances.

During the Humanitarian Month, the Vietnam Red Cross Society aims to assist at least 1.2 million people, support 100,000 humanitarian addresses, build 500 Red Cross houses, organize 50 free medical examination and treatment programs, health consultations, and a series of humanitarian activities, with a total expected value of 400 billion VND.

In the 2024 Humanitarian Month, the entire Association deployed over 763 billion VND, helping over 1.6 million poor and disadvantaged people. Humanitarian Month has contributed to strongly changing the awareness of Party committees, authorities, organizations and individuals towards humanitarian work, creating a large movement of mutual love and support in the community, bringing highlights and outstanding results compared to regular humanitarian activities.
