Pectin - a soluble fiber found in papaya, passion fruit and citrus fruits - is known for its ability to reduce many chronic diseases, especially its anti-tumor properties. Therefore, the authors focused their research on papaya and passion fruit.

The results demonstrated strong potential of pectin in papaya and passion fruit in fighting diseases, emphasizing the development of methods to enhance their therapeutic efficacy.

The findings highlight the significant therapeutic benefits of phytonutrients, particularly their ability to aid in cancer treatment, according to science news site Scitech Daily.

During the experiment, they found a way to extract pectin from papaya more efficiently, and also modified to increase the potency of pectin from passion fruit, with plans to produce it into a product for use.

The authors concluded: These studies may serve as a basis for developing clinical trials with pectin from these fruits, as an adjuvant for colon cancer chemotherapy.

In summary, small dietary changes, such as incorporating antioxidant-rich fruits and phytonutrients, may play an important role in cancer prevention.

The Powerful Anti-Cancer Potential of Papaya

Papaya contains high levels of monounsaturated fatty acids, proteins, carbohydrates, and alkaloids such as carpaine and pseudocarpaine, along with other bioactive substances, which have powerful anti-cancer effects. According to research published in the BMC Biomedical Journal, this fruit contains cancer-preventing chemicals that can activate tumor suppressor genes, disable the replication of cancer genes, and minimize oxidative damage through its anti-free radical effects, according to Scitech Daily.

The anti-tumor power of passion fruit

Passion fruit holds the key to cancer prevention, especially in the seeds, mainly thanks to bioactives such as piceatannol and scirpusin B.

Research published in the scientific journal Biochemistry and Biophysics Reports has shown that piceatannol, which is high in passion fruit seeds, has anti-tumor properties.

Piceatannol inhibits key enzymes involved in cancer, including glyoxalase I, which is overactive in many tumors and plays a role in tumor progression. By inhibiting this enzyme, piceatannol can induce cancer cell death, making it a potent anti-cancer agent.

Passion fruit, with its rich polyphenol content, can be used as a cancer prevention strategy, an effective natural way to inhibit tumor growth and support overall health.
