Continuing his official visit to China, on the afternoon of April 10, in Shanghai, National Assembly Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue received Politburo member and Secretary of the Shanghai Municipal Party Committee - Mr. Tran Cat Ninh, according to VNA.
At the meeting, National Assembly Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue expressed his pleasure to visit the beautiful and dynamic city of Shanghai; affirmed Vietnam's consistent policy in strengthening friendly neighborly relations and comprehensive cooperation with China, in which Vietnam always attaches importance to and is ready to support and create conditions to strengthen friendly cooperation between localities of the two countries, especially localities with traditional relations and rich potential for cooperation such as Shanghai city.
National Assembly Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue highly appreciated Shanghai's remarkable achievements in socio-economic development in recent years, emphasizing that Shanghai is the leading locality in paving the way, the "incubator" for piloting many new reform and opening-up policies of China, especially in trade, finance, investment attraction, innovation, science and high technology... Shanghai's success in building the Pudong New Area, the Free Trade Zone Pilot Zone (FTZ) is not only a direct contribution to China, but also has useful reference value for many countries, including Vietnam.
National Assembly Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue said that the exchange and cooperation between Shanghai and Vietnamese localities has great potential, a solid foundation and high complementarity. Shanghai is an important export market for Vietnam, while Vietnam is a potential investment destination for Shanghai enterprises.
National Assembly Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue suggested that Shanghai city create conditions for Vietnamese goods with strengths to be more present in the Shanghai market and the East China region; create favorable conditions, support and incentives for Vietnamese enterprises to participate in the China International Import Expo and other trade fairs held in Shanghai.
The National Assembly Chairman hopes that the two sides will effectively promote existing cooperation mechanisms, especially the exemplary friendly cooperation relationship between Shanghai and Ho Chi Minh City and several other localities of Vietnam; increase sharing and exchanging experiences in urban development and management, innovation, investment attraction, finance and currency.
Member of the Politburo, Secretary of the Shanghai Municipal Party Committee Tran Cat Ninh shared that Shanghai city is not large in area but is a leader in development in China with a GDP of more than 650 billion USD, contributing about 1/10 of the national budget.
The city has achieved world-class development achievements, focusing on five key areas: economic - financial center, science - technology, innovation and logistics. Investment in research and development accounts for 4.4% of the city's GDP.
Shanghai also focuses on allocating the two highest budget expenditures to the education and health sectors; striving to develop Shanghai into a city of the people, implementing people's democracy throughout the process. Indicators of life expectancy, ratio of doctors and teachers are among the top in the world.
Secretary Tran Cat Ninh affirmed that Shanghai attaches importance to friendly cooperation with Vietnamese localities; wishes to work with Vietnamese localities to effectively implement the common perception of the high-ranking leaders of the two Parties and two countries; increase delegation exchanges at all levels, effectively promote the role of cooperation mechanisms, promote in-depth economic-trade, investment, tourism and people-to-people exchanges; encourage businesses to invest in Vietnam; contribute to strengthening the comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership between China and Vietnam. Shanghai is willing to share with Vietnam its experience in urban and social construction and management.
On this occasion, the Shanghai Secretary expressed his gratitude to National Assembly Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue for inviting him to visit Vietnam.
