The province currently has over 175,000 elderly people, of whom more than 9,300 participate in the work of the Party, government, the Fatherland Front, unions and mass organizations. Despite their advanced age, many elderly people still continuously contribute, promote their experience, intelligence and capacity, actively participate in building the political system at the grassroots level, contributing to the effective implementation of socio-economic development tasks, ensuring local security and order, and fostering the great national unity bloc.
A typical example is Mr. Phan Van Ba (69 years old, Chairman of the Association of the Elderly in Ea Sup district), who has participated in the association for more than 10 years. He has always been dedicated, enthusiastic, and exemplary in all his work, especially in the work of eliminating temporary and dilapidated houses for the elderly in difficult circumstances. He actively mobilized philanthropists and coordinated with the Ea Sup District Fatherland Front Committee to build and donate 4 houses of love. In addition, he and his family are always at the forefront of humanitarian activities. He is also a contributor to many newspapers, regularly writing news and articles highlighting good people and good deeds in various fields...

With 30 years of experience working for the Red Cross Society and the Elderly Association of the commune, Mr. Nguyen Quang My (75 years old, Chairman of the Elderly Association of Ea Toh commune, Krong Nang district) has made many positive contributions to building a strong association, actively setting an example in the emulation movement "Old age - Bright example". Promoting the role of the elderly in participating in economic development and legitimate enrichment, he was voted as an elderly person with the title of good economic performer at all levels. In particular, the Elderly Association of Ea Toh commune promotes the establishment and operation of intergenerational self-help clubs, annually hosting exchanges and sharing of experiences between intergenerational self-help clubs in Krong Nang district. Thanks to that, the Elderly Association of Ea Toh commune has been continuously commended by the Elderly Association at all levels for many years in association activities and intergenerational self-help club activities.
Among the typical examples of the elderly in the province, it is impossible not to mention Ms. Trieu Thi Ngoan (62 years old, President of the Provincial Elderly Association). In her leadership role, she always sticks closely to the grassroots, wholeheartedly and wholeheartedly proposes many solutions with the Standing Committee of the Provincial Elderly Association to build a strong association. At the same time, she coordinates with departments, branches and sectors to do a good job of caring for, protecting and promoting the role of the elderly. Thanks to that, the Provincial Elderly Association has been the unit that has excellently fulfilled its tasks for many years, leading the Emulation Cluster No. 7, Central Highlands region. Ms. Trieu Thi Ngoan herself has been awarded certificates of merit by the Provincial People's Committee, the Central Committee of the Vietnam Elderly Association and the Ministry of Public Security for many years.
According to President of the Provincial Elderly Association Trieu Thi Ngoan, the Provincial Elderly Association currently has over 150,000 members, operating in 180 grassroots associations and 2,199 branches. In recent times, the elderly have always promoted their exemplary role in implementing the Party's guidelines and policies, the State's policies and laws; building a cultural life, building new rural areas and civilized urban areas; protecting the environment; doing good business, encouraging their children and grandchildren to study and do honest business, implementing well the local conventions and regulations, not violating social evils... The Elderly Associations at all levels in the province have continuously improved their operational efficiency, achieving many important results in implementing the emulation movement "Old age - Bright example".

In particular, many meaningful and practical activities have been implemented in health care, taking care of the material and spiritual life of the elderly, thereby creating motivation for the elderly to live happily, healthily, usefully and promote their role in all areas of social life. In the period of 2021 - 2025, the association at all levels organized longevity greetings and celebrations for more than 71,700 elderly people with a budget of over 52 billion VND; mobilizing more than 25.7 billion VND to carry out elderly care work. To date, there are over 30,000 elderly people in the province enjoying social protection policies.
In addition, the work of caring for the spiritual life of the elderly is focused on. The associations at all levels organize many rich and diverse activities such as: art festivals, physical exercise performances, health-improving sports activities... thereby creating a useful playground for the elderly. Up to now, the whole province has established 806 clubs of all kinds that are regularly operating. In particular, implementing Project 1336 of the Prime Minister on establishing and expanding the model of intergenerational self-help clubs, the whole province has established 242 clubs, promoting effectiveness in supporting the community and improving the spiritual life of the elderly.
It can be seen that “Old age - Bright example” has become a widespread emulation movement, rich in meaning and spreading deeply in social life. Promoting the role of the elderly in the coming period is to contribute to building a humane, united and sustainably developed society.
Summing up the patriotic emulation movement "Old age - Bright example" for the period 2021 - 2025, the Provincial People's Committee awarded certificates of merit to 3 collectives and 8 individuals; the Provincial Association of the Elderly awarded certificates of merit to 5 collectives and 15 individuals with outstanding achievements in the movement. |
