Developing high quality plant and animal varieties

Identifying plant and animal varieties as key factors to increase productivity and quality of agricultural products, the Center for Agricultural and Forestry Development (Department of Agriculture and Environment) actively and effectively implements programs to support quality plant and animal varieties for farmers; at the same time, strengthens research, testing, and implementation of models for producing high-quality plant and animal varieties to expand production.

High quality rice varieties are carefully inspected and assessed by the Department of Agriculture and Environment to ensure quality before being supplied.

Implementing the agricultural production support program of the Central and the province, in the period of 2020 - 2025, the Provincial Center for Agricultural and Forestry Development has supported more than 4,896 tons of quality rice seeds for farmers in the province; subsidized freight and prices for more than 1,177 tons of rice seeds for mountainous communes.

Coordinated testing of nearly 280 new rice varieties, 45 corn varieties, demonstrated 249 hectares of new rice varieties; implemented 29 demonstration models of organic quality rice production with a total area of ​​680 hectares; supported 820 hectares of organic vegetable and fruit production; supplied and transferred more than 85,000 fruit trees, ornamental plants of all kinds.

In the field of livestock and aquaculture, the center supported 495 thousand doses of foreign pig semen, supplied more than 5,100 breeding pigs of all kinds; supported nearly 57 thousand doses of beef cow semen, more than 28,500 doses of high-quality dairy cow semen for livestock households; supported more than 3.2 million fish fry for 136 production households with a total area of ​​115 hectares.

Deploying 10 organic pig farming models with a scale of 1,900 pigs, 4 organic chicken farming models with a scale of 8,000 pigs; building 15 intensive fish farming models associated with product consumption linkage with a total area of ​​30 hectares...

The center focuses on research and testing of high-quality plant and animal varieties, aiming to evaluate and select new plant varieties with high productivity and quality, suitable for production requirements and natural conditions, supplementing and enriching the province's plant variety collection. Through research and testing, the Center for Agricultural and Forestry Development has brought many quality rice varieties to the market such as: TBR225, TBR97, Ha Phat 3, QR15, Huong Binh, ADI28... with an average yield of 63 quintals/ha; supplying a number of fruit tree varieties with high productivity and economic value such as Dien grapefruit, green-skin grapefruit, Tan Lac red grapefruit, Taiwanese guava, Thai jackfruit...

Director of the Center for Agricultural and Forestry Development Trieu Anh Tuan said: “Implementing the province's agricultural restructuring policy, on average each year, the Center supports the supply of 950 - 1,000 tons of high-quality rice seeds from the quality rice seed support program according to Resolution No. 20 of the Provincial People's Council and the rice seed price and fee subsidy program for 11 mountainous communes; supplying the market with 20 - 30,000 fruit trees. Currently, more than 80% of the province's rice growing area produces high-quality rice.

In addition, the center actively promotes research and application of science and technology to create typical agricultural products of the province; proactively advises the province on solutions to improve productivity and quality of crops and livestock, associated with the development of specialized areas for high-quality goods, building brands for unique agricultural products, contributing to increasing income for farmers.

With efforts to improve the quality of crop and livestock varieties and promote the application of science and technology in production, in the period of 2021 - 2025, the province's agricultural, forestry and fishery production value increased by 3% per year, exceeding the target set by the Resolution of the 17th Provincial Party Congress.

Identifying plant and animal varieties as key factors to increase productivity and quality of agricultural products, aiming at sustainable agricultural development, in the coming time, the Provincial Center for Agricultural and Forestry Development will continue to promptly and effectively implement mechanisms and policies to support agricultural production of the Central and the province.

In the period of 2026 - 2030, the Center aims to supply more than 1,500 tons of high-quality rice seeds each year; build 35 - 40 rice production models with the goal of testing and selecting 1 - 2 new rice varieties with high yield and quality, adding to the annual rice variety structure of the province; produce and supply more than 30,000 quality fruit tree varieties each year. In the livestock sector, on average, it supplies from 80,000 to 100,000 doses of pig semen, 1,500 high-quality piglets, and more than 10 million fish of all kinds each year...
