At first, she fell into a deep coma and could not sit up. After treatment, she regained consciousness and is undergoing rehabilitation. According to the patient's family, this is a miraculous recovery because before that, due to a traumatic brain injury, the patient was in a coma, had to use a feeding tube, have a urinary catheter, and have an endotracheal tube. But now Ms. Lan is aware, can move lightly and is learning to walk again.

In October 2024, Mr. Ban Van Long, Son Phu commune (Na Hang) suffered a stroke and underwent surgery. After the stroke, Mr. Long suffered from left hemiplegia, his left limbs were immobile, so his family took him to Huong Sen Rehabilitation Hospital for treatment. Here, he received intensive care and treatment using modern therapy methods such as: intravascular laser, magnetic field, shockwave, etc.

After 6 months of persistent practice, his illness has now subsided, his limbs move better, he can eat and take care of his personal hygiene. Not only Mr. Long but also many patients with cerebrovascular accidents and traffic accidents have escaped from wheelchairs after following the rehabilitation regimen at the hospital. Along with that, thousands of patients with osteoarthritis, post-surgical traumatic brain injury, spinal cord injury, autistic children, cerebral palsy, etc. have been successfully treated.

Dr. Tran Thi Kim Thoa, Deputy Director in charge of Huong Sen Rehabilitation Hospital, said: “Neurological and bone diseases often leave many sequelae, so in addition to drug treatment, patients need rehabilitation treatment. Modern equipment such as: Cerebral blood circulation machine, spinal traction machine, high pressure oxygen, shock, shortwave... help patients to be treated effectively, many patients discharged from the hospital have recovered from pathological functions reaching 70 - 80%".

Equipment investment

In recent years, Son Duong District Medical Center has invested in many equipment to serve the examination and rehabilitation treatment at the Center such as: magnetic field machines, electric pulses, stretching machines, short waves, high-power lasers, intravascular lasers, whole-body ultraviolet, exercise training... Doctor Nguyen Thanh Chuyen, Head of the Interdisciplinary Department, said: Currently, on average, the department examines and treats over 60 patients per day, of which, 20 patients are treated for rehabilitation each day.

From 2024 to present, the Center has invested in and deployed many advanced techniques in rehabilitation. Recently, from the provincial budget, the Center has purchased pulse machines and endovascular lasers worth over 500 million VND and it is expected that in the beginning of the third quarter, using cost savings, the unit will invest over 1 billion VND to purchase equipment for examination and rehabilitation treatment.

Ms. Nguyen Thi Hong (55 years old), Son Duong town (Son Duong) said: “I have bone and joint disease so I often go to Son Duong District Medical Center for treatment. In the past three months, I have been treated with a multi-dimensional traction machine, I see clear results, much less pain”.

To ensure inpatient treatment for 100 patients/day, the Northern General Hospital has also successfully deployed many new, specialized techniques such as: Botulinum toxine injection to treat spasticity under ultrasound guidance; hand and arm exercises, speech therapy... Doctor Nguyen Van Canh, Director of the Northern General Hospital said: "Patients coming for treatment are mainly the elderly, people with sequelae after accidents, strokes. Each new, specialized technique successfully deployed means that patients have more opportunities to recover, reducing treatment costs."

With scientific physical therapy and rehabilitation methods, investment in advanced and modern machinery systems such as magnetic field machines, shortwave, high-power laser, intravascular laser, whole-body ultraviolet..., the rehabilitation network from province to district has been consolidated and maintained to operate effectively, contributing to the health sector in fulfilling its mission of caring for and protecting people's health.
