TTH.VN - On the morning of June 9, the Provincial Cooperative Alliance organized a workshop on "Developing sustainable small-scale household forests towards smart forestry adapting to climate change" to discuss and share practical cases in cooperatives on effective agroforestry models related to climate change adaptation.
Accordingly, the workshop introduced the VIE8748 project on Smart Forestry Decisions, Sustainable Forest Management and Forest Certification for Small-Scale Plantations in Vietnam, which aims to build the resilience of small-scale forestry livelihoods in Vietnam through promoting forest planning, forest certification, environmental management and climate-smart agricultural practices in Nghe An and Thua Thien Hue provinces.
The project cooperates with the Center for Climate Change Research in Central Vietnam, the Vietnam Cooperative Alliance and the Cooperative Alliances of Nghe An and Thua Thien Hue provinces and 8 member-owned cooperatives with about 13,000 members (50% are women) managing small-scale forest plots with a total area of about 14,000 hectares of forest, with the goal of creating opportunities for small-scale forest growers of the Cooperative Alliances of Nghe An and Thua Thien Hue to access the sustainable forest management model towards certification for planted forests.
