Implementing the merger, Muong Gion commune was established on the basis of merging 2 communes: Muong Gion, Pa Ma Pha Khinh, with an area of over 29,054 hectares, population of 16,145 people. Muong Gion Commune is located on National Highway 279 connecting Son La with Lai Chau. The locality has advantages in transportation and a large lake surface, which is a favorable potential for developing lake tourism , experiences and sustainable aquaculture, creating favorable conditions for trade and attracting tourists.

To meet that demand, the family of Ms. Lu Thi Giot, Chieng Le village, has expanded the scale of the store with diverse goods, ensuring quality, always trusted by consumers inside and outside the commune. Ms. Giot said: The family prioritizes choosing distributors of Vietnamese products with clear origins and full inspection papers. The business is reputable, so the number of regular customers coming to buy regularly, the family income increases day by day.

In 2021, Mr. Hoang Van Vung, Chieng Le village, switched from selling clothes to selling electronics and refrigeration. The store currently supplies the following items: washing machines, televisions, water purifiers and home furniture. The newly developed model creates regular jobs for 2 workers with a salary of 6 million VND/month and pays nearly 1 million VND in taxes/month.

Not only the center of Muong Gion commune develops trading activities, the old Pa Ma Pha Khinh commune area also forms a point for purchasing agricultural products, developing tourism services on the lake. Currently, the commune is attracting Quynh Nhai Travel Joint Stock Company to invest and exploit 2 tourist spots with 3 double-decker tourist boats with 30-100 seats/boat, serving about 10,000 visitors/year.

The company cooperates with local people to provide culinary specialties and souvenirs for tourists. In addition to sightseeing and enjoying Da River fish dishes, tourists can also experience services such as: rowing, water activities, fishing, fish massage...

The entire Muong Gion commune has 2 central markets, more than 200 households doing trade and service, focusing on the following areas: consumer goods, groceries, electronics, refrigeration, construction materials... Trade and service activities are increasingly flourishing, developing in both scale and quality. The total circulation of goods in 2025 is expected to reach about 50 billion VND. In addition, in 2024, Muong Gion commune will maintain a night market twice a month, to promote trade and exploit local potential.

Ms. Luong Thi Duyen, Chairman of the Commune People's Committee, said: Identifying trade and services as a key economic sector, the commune has planned and invested in infrastructure for the central market, night market, and rest stops along Highway 279; creating favorable conditions for people to register businesses, access loans, and expand production areas. At the same time, encouraging the response to the Campaign "Vietnamese people prioritize using Vietnamese goods" and strengthening State management in the field of trade and services, ensuring consumer rights.
