Childhood away from parents and tears in the corner of the house
Born into a poor family, Miss Student Vietnam 2025 Hoang Ngoc Nhu had an emotional childhood. Her parents could not afford to send her to study in Saigon, so they had to send her back to her hometown to be cared for by her grandparents.
Although they had just had their first child, Ngoc Nhu’s parents had to be away from her due to circumstances. On weekends, they took a bus back to their hometown just to visit their child for a few hours and then had to go back to Ho Chi Minh City to get to work the next day.
Ngoc Nhu recalled: "At that time, I was too young, I don't remember much, but I only saw my parents for a few hours a week, then they left. Every time my parents left, I hid in the corner of the house and cried. My grandparents knew and comforted me."
After about a year, because they missed their child so much, despite financial difficulties, Ngoc Nhu's parents decided to bring their child to Ho Chi Minh City to live with them.
The shy girl and the sentence that changed everything by Bui Quynh Hoa
Before joining Miss Vietnam Student, Ngoc Nhu was reserved, shy and introverted. After school hours, she went home, rarely interacted with people, and did not socialize much. That was the reason Ngoc Nhu decided to join the contest - wanting to experience more and test herself.
The night before flying to Hai Phong to film the house, Ngoc Nhu informed her parents. They did not believe it and said that their introverted daughter could not compete in a beauty pageant and thought that she would be "eliminated at the first round". After talking and seeing her determination, her parents supported Ngoc Nhu's decision.
In the early days, Ngoc Nhu was nervous, her legs were always shaking. Coach Bui Quynh Hoa commented that she lacked confidence, always looked down, hiding and afraid of people looking.
Ngoc Nhu changed after the presentation about the environmental project. Bui Quynh Hoa said frankly: " Have you ever seen a beauty queen whose legs were shaking like yours? Next time if I see you again, I will eliminate you ." That sentence was like an obsession for Ngoc Nhu. Bui Quynh Hoa continued to ask: "Are you afraid of failure or being eliminated?". Ngoc Nhu answered: "I am more afraid of being eliminated" and determined to prove that she was no longer shy.

Nightly Messages - Strength from Mother and a Fateful Fall
During the competition, her mother became Ngoc Nhu's biggest source of motivation. After filming from morning to night every day, when she came home and turned on her phone, she saw a long list of messages from her mother.
"Have you eaten yet?", "Are you tired today?", "Do your legs hurt?", "You have to try harder and be more confident" - her mother's daily questions have created a great source of motivation for her.
During the final night, during the Ao Dai performance, Ngoc Nhu suddenly tripped. Instead of panicking or giving up, Ngoc Nhu quickly stood up and continued walking. Talking about that moment, Ngoc Nhu shared: "I have tried hard in a very long journey, only a little bit more to reach the destination, so I have to stand up and continue walking."
When reviewing, Ngoc Nhu herself did not understand why after falling, she became more confident. Ngoc Nhu realized that the moment of standing up after falling helped her find confidence in herself - something she had been searching for throughout the competition.
After the coronation night, Ngoc Nhu shared that she had transformed from a weak girl to a confident one, so she was very satisfied with herself. "I sacrificed a lot for this crown, so I cherish it," she confided.
Ngoc Nhu does not have a lover yet and confided that she wants to find someone who truly understands her and knows how to listen.

From Ho Chi Minh City to Hanoi
One of the biggest changes after being crowned was that Ngoc Nhu had to leave Ho Chi Minh City to work in Hanoi for a while. This was the first time she stepped out of her parents' arms. For Ngoc Nhu, this was a challenge that helped her improve herself and become more mature every day.
Recently, Ngoc Nhu went to Ho Chi Minh City University of Industry to award 50 scholarships worth 50 million VND to poor and disadvantaged students. After completing the first project at the school, she hopes to spread it to all other universities.
