According to the New York Times on November 21, a bipartisan group of US House of Representatives members attended a screening of the documentary "Age of Truth" on Capitol Hill earlier this week.
The film compiles 34 speeches by current and former high-ranking government , military and intelligence officials, discussing information related to unidentified aerial phenomena (UAP), commonly known as UFOs.
The characters in the film claim the existence of advanced non-human intelligence and an 80-year cover-up campaign. According to them, the program is believed to involve recovering and decoding technology from UAP crashes.
One of the most notable names featured in the film is Secretary of State Marco Rubio, whose involvement as a senator and vice chairman of the Senate Intelligence Committee paved the way for other senior officials to speak out.
"There have been a number of cases of UFOs operating in the airspace above restricted nuclear facilities, and they're not ours. We don't know whose they are," he said in the film.
Jay Stratton, former director of the Pentagon's UAP Task Force, also stated: "I have seen the vehicle and the non-human creature with my own eyes." However, he declined to provide further details at the screening.
The US government has yet to make an official comment. Previously, a report on more than 100 UAP observations in 2021 by the Office of the Director of National Intelligence said there was not enough data to determine whether these objects were secret US programs, technology from adversaries or signs of extraterrestrial life.
The All-Domain Anomaly Resolution Office (AARO), the unit in charge of investigating UAPs, also confirmed that there is no evidence that the US Government ever conducted a secret program to study or "reverse engineer" extraterrestrial objects.
The film received mixed reviews from critics, with some questioning the credibility of its claims.
The screening event was held to call for support for the UAP Disclosure Act, which aims to remove the veil of secrecy surrounding this topic and promote information transparency.
In a post-screening discussion, lawmakers stressed the importance of increasing data transparency and protecting whistleblowers.
Rep. Eric Burlison urged President Donald Trump to prioritize UAP, noting that an executive order could be issued immediately. He also encouraged people to contact their representatives to show support for the transparency effort.
