Director-screenwriter Mai Long has just released the TV series “Buong” – a rare work that brings together many veteran artists such as People's Artist Quoc Anh, People's Artist Thu Que, People's Artist Tien Dat, People's Artist Hoai Thu, People's Artist Quoc Tri, Meritorious Artist Kim Xuyen, Meritorious Artist Tien Quang (Quang Teo), Meritorious Artist Doi Quan...

“Letting Go” tells the story of Tinh (Cheo artist Thanh Huyen) - a single woman who left her hometown to work as a massage therapist in the city to raise her young child and is living with her grandfather (Meritorious Artist Tien Quang). After the breakdown of her marriage with Hung (Phung Duc Hieu), Tinh tries to rebuild her life, but fate pushes her into new tragedies and traps, where kindness and lies always go hand in hand.

Hung is the son of Mr. Manh (People's Artist Quoc Anh) and Mrs. Oanh (People's Artist Hoai Thu) - a wealthy and powerful family. People's Artist Quoc Tri plays Mr. Chien (Hung's grandfather), representing the experienced, strict class who preserve traditional moral values.

People's Artist Thu Que transforms into Lyly's mother - a shrewd, pragmatic woman, willing to do anything for the benefit of herself and her daughter, contributing to pushing Tinh's life into tragedy.

Director Mai Long also plays the role of Don, who witnesses and is indirectly involved in the dark plots but ultimately helps bring the truth to light. People's Artist Tien Dat plays the role of the Commune Chairman - a cadre close to the people, representing justice and the voice of conscience, while artist Kim Xuyen brings warm moments of everyday life through the role of a water seller.

According to director Mai Long, “Letting Go” is a social psychological work that reflects contemporary life with conflicts between good and evil, fame and humanity. That is also the reason he invited many big names.

“The film is not only a woman’s story but also a mirror of today’s life - where people must learn to let go of pain to maintain humanity. I hope that when watching the film, audiences will find empathy and faith in kindness,” the director said.

Sharing his feelings when participating in this project, artist Quang Teo expressed his emotion because this was a rare opportunity for him to transform into a veteran - someone who had experienced war and suffered many losses. He was moved because he was able to relive the emotions of a soldier, and at the same time work in a team that gathered many People's Artists and Meritorious Artists.

Responding to a reporter from VietnamPlus Electronic Newspaper, artist Kim Xuyen said that in her 60 years in the profession, she rarely watched a complete film in which she acted. Yet she watched the entire “Let Go” with all the emotions of joy and sadness.

“This is the first time I have watched a full film in which I act, a film with both comedy and tragedy, very real, humane and close to the masses. I think the director is very meticulous in taking care of even the supporting roles. I believe that the appearance of familiar faces like us will be a factor that makes the audience love the film,” said actress Kim Xuyen.

The 90-minute film is expected to be broadcast on several TV channels during the Lunar New Year./.
