Vice President Vo Thi Anh Xuan warmly welcomed Comrade Salvador Valdes Mesa to return to Vietnam and attend the ceremony to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the liberation of the South and national reunification, in the context that the two countries are carrying out many activities to celebrate the 65th anniversary of the establishment of Vietnam - Cuba diplomatic relations (December 2, 1960 - December 2, 2025).
Vice President Vo Thi Anh Xuan emphasized that the Vietnamese people always cherish and remember the pure solidarity and valuable support that the Party, State and people of Cuba have always given to Vietnam over the past nearly seven decades; saying that although the two countries are geographically far apart, they share noble ideals and a relationship founded by President Ho Chi Minh and Leader Fidel Castro, and cultivated and developed by many generations of leaders and people of the two countries. Vice President Vo Thi Anh Xuan affirmed that, in any circumstances, Vietnam always considers Cuba as its most important and trustworthy partner.
Cuban Vice President Salvador Valdes Mesa expressed his pleasure in visiting Vietnam again and directly attending the meaningful commemorative event of the Vietnamese people; expressed his impression of Vietnam's achievements after 50 years of national liberation and reunification; and believed that Vietnam will achieve more positive results in the cause of national construction and development, continuing to be a shining example of economic development combined with ensuring social security for developing nations in the world.

Cuban Vice President Salvador Valdes Mesa thanked the leaders of the Party, State and people of Vietnam for their warm welcome and warm sentiments for the high-ranking delegation of the Cuban Party and State; and for Vietnam's support and assistance to Cuba during the current difficult period and in strategic, high-priority areas for Cuba such as food security and energy.
The two sides informed each other about the situation in the two countries; affirmed to continue supporting each other at international multilateral forums; discussed a number of measures to promote bilateral relations in the Vietnam - Cuba Friendship Year 2025 to implement the results of General Secretary To Lam's visit to Cuba in September 2024; and emphasized the determination to work together to improve people's lives.
Earlier, in the afternoon of the same day, the delegation of the Cuban Party and State came to offer flowers at the statue of President Ho Chi Minh in the city named after him.
