Welcoming the KEPCO delegation to Vietnam, Vice Chairwoman of the National Assembly Nguyen Thi Thanh stated that after more than 30 years of establishing diplomatic relations, especially with the upgrade to Comprehensive Strategic Partnership in 2022, the Vietnam-Korea relationship is in the best development stage ever. This is an important foundation for businesses of the two countries to feel secure in stable and long-term cooperation in the future.
Currently, Korea is a major investor in Vietnam. Korean enterprises participate in most energy sectors in Vietnam such as: electricity development, clean energy and nuclear power development, oil and gas exploitation.

Appreciating the projects that KEPCO participated in Vietnam, the Vice Chairman of the National Assembly suggested that in the coming time, KEPCO continue to maintain its position as an important investor, contributing to the development of technology and energy in Vietnam; continue to cooperate closely with EVN, effectively implement the Memorandum of Understanding signed with EVN; continue to closely coordinate with Vietnamese ministries, departments, branches and localities to research and implement new investment projects in accordance with the "National Strategy on Green Growth for the 2021-2030 period, vision to 2050".
The Vice Chairman of the National Assembly also said that Vietnam has restarted the construction of the Ninh Thuan Nuclear Power Plant Project. This is a very strong and timely decision because Vietnam's energy demand is increasing to meet the requirements of socio-economic development in the new era, and is also consistent with the world's energy development and transition trends. The Chairman of the National Assembly asked KEPCO to provide more information to participate in the investment field in energy development, including solar power, wind power, and nuclear power.

Expressing his sincere thanks to Vice Chairwoman of the National Assembly Nguyen Thi Thanh for taking the time to meet him, Mr. Kim Dong Cheol emphasized that as a country with rapidly growing electricity demand, averaging 12-14% per year, ensuring a stable and clean energy source is essential for Vietnam. The Vietnamese Government's review of energy policies and choice to restart the construction of the Ninh Thuan Nuclear Power Plant is a correct and timely decision.
According to the Chairman of KEPCO, nuclear power not only contributes to enhancing energy security, but also plays an important role in achieving emission reduction targets. If nuclear power is combined with advanced energy technologies, Vietnam's energy infrastructure will certainly develop in a more modern, efficient and sustainable direction.

Introducing KEPCO's achievements, technology and experience in the electricity sector, Mr. Kim Dong Cheol wished to continue the spirit of close cooperation between the two countries in the field of nuclear energy and new technology, contributing to the successful and safe implementation of Vietnam's nuclear power project, towards the development of a sustainable and modern energy infrastructure in Vietnam.
Vice Chairwoman of the National Assembly Nguyen Thi Thanh welcomed Mr. Kim Dong Cheol's proposals; at the same time, she stated that in the near future, the National Assembly will consider and amend the Law on Economical and Efficient Use of Energy to create a favorable legal corridor, strengthen incentive mechanisms, promote the economical and efficient use of energy, help Vietnam promptly take advantage of, attract and mobilize international support resources, promote the process of investing in energy saving, and transform the market of energy saving products. The National Assembly will also consider amending the Law on Atomic Energy to build a legal basis to ensure the completeness and comprehensiveness of the system of legal documents on atomic energy.

The Vice Chairman of the National Assembly affirmed that the Vietnamese National Assembly always supports and is ready to create a favorable legal corridor for investment, production and business activities of the domestic and foreign business community, including Korean enterprises and KEPCO, to carry out effective, successful and sustainable investment and business activities in Vietnam.
