(Haiphong.gov.vn) - On the afternoon of August 29, Vice Chairman of the City People's Committee Hoang Minh Cuong received a delegation from Kagawa Prefecture, Japan, led by Deputy Governor of Kagawa Prefecture - Satoshi. Also attending the reception were Vice Chairman of the City People's Council Bui Duc Quang and leaders of relevant departments and branches.

Welcoming the delegation to visit and work in the city, Vice Chairman of the City People's Committee Hoang Minh Cuong informed that Hai Phong city is an important traffic and exchange hub of Vietnam and the world. The city has a synchronous infrastructure system, convenient traffic connecting inter-provincial, inter-regional and international with 5 types of transportation (sea, road, rail, air, inland waterway).

In recent years, Hai Phong has always been one of the localities with the highest growth rate in the country. Even during the COVID-19 pandemic, the city has maintained double-digit growth. In 2023, the city's gross regional domestic product (GRDP) growth rate reached 10.34%, the 9th consecutive year that Hai Phong has maintained double-digit growth; Export turnover reached 31 billion USD, Total export turnover reached 31 billion USD, total import turnover reached 30 billion USD, and the volume of goods passing through the port reached over 170 million tons. In the first 6 months of 2024, GRDP increased by 10.32% over the same period; export turnover reached 17.2 billion USD, an increase of 28.87% over the same period, the volume of goods passing through the port reached 75.7 million tons, an increase of 9.03% over the same period.

Japan currently ranks third in the total number of projects and second in total registered investment capital among 39 countries and territories investing in Hai Phong city with a total of 142 projects and a total registered investment capital of 4.3 billion USD. Japanese investors' projects in the city are assessed to be operating effectively, gradually helping to increase the technology and science content in enterprises in the city, helping to increase export turnover, create jobs for workers and contribute to the city budget...

At the reception, leaders of the two localities signed a cooperation agreement between Kagawa province and Hai Phong city.
