Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha highly appreciated President Macron's initiative to organize a Summit on the new Global Finance Compact to seek new public-private financial sources, contributing to promoting finance for development and implementing the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

The Deputy Prime Minister expressed his delight at the positive developments in Vietnam-France relations, especially in economic cooperation, an important pillar in the strategic partnership between the two countries; and emphasized the active role of AFD through the effective implementation of development aid projects in Vietnam since 1994, especially in the fields of energy, climate change response and urban transport.

On this occasion, Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha asked AFD to continue supporting and promoting cooperation with Vietnam in projects to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and combat climate change, especially in coastal areas and the Mekong Delta.
AFD Deputy Director General Marie Helene Loison highly appreciated Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha's attendance at the Summit on the New Global Financial Compact in France, demonstrating Vietnam's strong commitment and responsibility with the international community in efforts to respond to climate change.

Ms. Marie Helene Loison expressed her pleasure to discuss with the Deputy Prime Minister the cooperation situation between AFD and Vietnam, especially in the context of the two countries celebrating the 50th anniversary of establishing diplomatic relations and the 30th anniversary of cooperation between AFD and Vietnam.

Ms. Marie Helene Loison shared about the orientations and strategies of AFD in Vietnam in the coming time; affirmed to continue implementing the socio-economic research program on climate change in Vietnam (GEMMES); agreed to support Vietnam in enhancing policy-making capacity, technology transfer and financial support in the fields of green energy development, renewable energy, smart power transmission, green fuel production, etc.
The two sides agreed to further strengthen cooperation between AFD and Vietnam in the field of energy transition, especially in the context of Vietnam's strong commitments at COP26 and the implementation of the Just Energy Transition Partnership (JETP); continue to coordinate effectively in implementing economic projects serving sustainable development in Vietnam./.
