Parents have the right to suggest activities after official school hours.

Ho Chi Minh City requires that activities for students outside of official school hours during the day be organized according to the needs and interests of students.

Accordingly, the Department of Education and Training of Ho Chi Minh City requires that in the 2024-2025 school year, primary, secondary and high schools must ensure the ratio of 1 classroom/class, facilities, and number of students/class according to the regulations of primary schools; have sufficient minimum teaching equipment according to Regulation 13; ensure the ratio of 1.5 teachers/class and the teacher structure to teach all subjects,educational activities and organize 2 teaching sessions/day according to regulations.

Organize teaching 2 sessions/day, each day arranges no more than 7 periods, each period 35 minutes; implement a teaching plan of at least 9 sessions/week with 32 periods/week; the education plan ensures reasonable allocation between educational contents, helping students complete learning tasks and requirements of the program;

The timetable needs to be arranged scientifically , ensuring a reasonable ratio between teaching content and educational activities, reasonable allocation of time and time during the school day and school week suitable for the psychology of primary school students, and at the same time suitable for the mobilization and arrangement of teachers (for specialized subjects and other educational activities).

For primary education institutions that do not have the conditions to organize 2 sessions/day, the Department of Education and Training of Ho Chi Minh City requires that, on the basis of teaching the correct and sufficient content and duration of compulsory subjects according to the program's regulations, primary education institutions proactively determine the content, choose the form of organization, and allocate appropriate duration for elective subjects when ensuring implementation conditions, consolidation activities and other educational activities.

Regarding boarding activities, organize official after-school activities in the form of clubs. The Ho Chi Minh City Department of Education and Training requires primary education institutions to develop a plan to organize boarding activities with content and form suitable to actual conditions, with the agreement and voluntariness of students and parents, and in accordance with regulations and instructions of the management agency.

Organizing boarding activities needs to be flexible and can include activities such as organizing lunch, naps, entertainment, etc. for students; organizing lunch and boarding must ensure regulations on food safety and hygiene, ensuring nutrition and health for students.

The Ho Chi Minh City Department of Education and Training also stipulates that organizing activities for students outside of official school hours during the day is based on the needs and interests of students during the time from after official school hours until the time the students' parents pick them up and take them home.

Organizing after-school activities during the day must ensure safety, effectiveness, and compliance with the set goals in the form of club activities, carried out on the basis of consensus and voluntariness of students and parents, and approved by competent authorities.
