Báo Kinh tế và Đô thịBáo Kinh tế và Đô thị01/10/2024

In Vietnam, it is estimated that MICE tourists from travel agencies account for an average of 15-20% of total visitors and up to 60% at some large units during peak months. Despite the potential, according to experts, MICE tourism in Vietnam is still stuck when large tourist areas and hotels do not have enough infrastructure, for example, there is a lack of large-capacity conference centers.

However, in recent times, Phu Quoc pearl island has emerged as a new paradise for MICE tourism in Vietnam and the region, meeting all the conditions to become an ideal MICE destination.

Vietnam visa policy

Phu Quoc Island is currently the only destination in Vietnam that applies a special visa policy with many advantages. Foreigners and Vietnamese people holding foreign passports entering, exiting, and residing in Phu Quoc Island are exempt from visas for a temporary stay of no more than 30 days.

Visa exemption for up to 30 days for tourists helps MICE groups easily handle procedures with the characteristic of large group numbers. Thanks to the visa exemption policy, there are currently many international flights operating in Phu Quoc with a frequency of many flights per day such as Korea, Thailand, Malaysia, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Mongolia... Many other countries are continuing to research opening direct flights to Phu Quoc.

High-class resort system

Phu Quoc is one of the destinations with the most beautiful natural scenery in Vietnam. Visitors to the Pearl Island will enjoy the fresh air with warm sunshine all year round, exploring the poetic island paradise. These are beaches in the top "most beautiful on the planet" with fine white sand, clear water to the bottom such as Bai Kem, Bai Sao; small islands such as Hon Thom, Hon May Rut... with pristine beauty, diverse marine and forest ecosystems...

Taking advantage of nature, resorts located on wide, gentle sandy beaches with clear, picturesque water are the prerequisites for many MICE groups to choose to stay in Phu Quoc. This is also a space to organize collective activities and memorable outdoor parties.

The South Island area, right next to Bai Kem, is home to the most famous resorts such as JW Marriott Phu Quoc Emerald Bay, New World Phu Quoc, Premier Residences Phu Quoc Emerald Bay or Premier Village Phu Quoc in nearby Ong Doi Cape. The 4 resorts have 4 different styles, managed by leading international hotel brands such as Marriott International, Rosewood, Accor.

JW Marriott Phu Quoc is a typical example in Phu Quoc in successfully organizing MICE groups when it is the place chosen by many Indian billionaires to hold weddings, including the world-famous super wedding of the couple Rushang Shah and Kaabia Grewal. New World Phu Quoc has the advantage of all rooms being villas and having private swimming pools, Premier Residences Phu Quoc Emerald Bay with the number of rooms up to 752 has reasonable prices and 5-star quality.

In particular, resorts in the South Island area also cater to tourists from the most specific markets. The luxury restaurant system and experienced chefs can treat tourists to global cuisine, including vegetarian dishes or Halal Food. The staff is fluent in foreign languages. The South China Morning Post in an article in 2022 praised the good English service in Phu Quoc.

Large capacity conference room

Resorts in Phu Quoc all have conference rooms and halls with large capacity, which can serve a variety of events. In the center of Sunset Town, opposite La Festa Phu Quoc - Curio Collection by Hilton is the Sun Signature Gallery conference center designed by famous architect Bill Bensley. More than a conference center, this is a museum containing Bill Bensley's extraordinary creations, preserving unique Mid Century Modern artistic values.

The ballroom can be adjusted to many types of events, from classes, workshops with a capacity of up to 1,000 people, cocktail parties with a capacity of about 800 people, dinner parties with a capacity of about 550-600 people. The room is decorated with tens of thousands of mica stones hand-stitched on the walls, the highest dome is up to 22m, the chandelier weighs 500 kg with details made of natural shells and rare crystals...

In addition, the ballroom at Sun Signature Gallery is also equipped with an advanced lighting system with smart control to help direct the light flexibly in 360 degrees. The high-end sound system and screen are qualified to organize any professional art and entertainment performance program.

In October, the Sun Paradise Land ecosystem in Phu Quoc continued to launch Sun Convention Center - a new conference center operated by the luxury resort brand New World, with a capacity of up to 1,000 guests.

Diverse experiences

Besides the high-end resort and conference infrastructure, what makes MICE groups choose Phu Quoc is also the region's top entertainment experiences.

MICE groups cannot miss sports activities such as team building and workshops on the beach. For high-class groups, Phu Quoc is a paradise for golfing with picturesque golf courses and high levels of difficulty that everyone wants to conquer. Especially Eschuri Vung Bau with its unique theme takes visitors on a journey of "up the mountain and down to the sea" through 18 challenging golf holes. For MICE groups that want to save more time and have many new players, Kem Beach Driving Range at Bai Kem is a reasonable choice.

In terms of entertainment, the Sun Paradise Land complex in the South of Phu Quoc Island is a model that is hard to find elsewhere in the world. Visitors can visit the Kiss Bridge, watch the Kiss of the Sea multimedia show and the nightly fireworks show, go to the Vui Phet coastal night market to enjoy unique cuisine and attractive street art, or a culturally rich show at the A Oi Theater.

At the end of the year, Sun Paradise Land will launch the Symphony of the Sea show combining jetski, flyboards, and fireworks with Vietnamese elements such as drums, lions, and dragons at Cau Hon beach. Or at Hon Thom, there will be a series of Kaya shows with funny natives. The shows are all performed in large outdoor spaces, meeting the needs of MICE groups.

One of the experiences that no tourist wants to miss when coming to Phu Quoc is taking the longest 3-wire cable car to Hon Thom Island, to enjoy the journey to see the panoramic view of Phu Quoc's sea and sky from above. This experience is considered by the world's leading travel guide The Lonely Planet as "the most valuable" in Phu Quoc.

With such unique and classy services, experiences and infrastructure, in the future, Phu Quoc Island promises to be the place to hold many regional and international conferences and events, worthy of being a rising star that Travel + Leisure has lovingly called the second most wonderful island in the world.
