The strength of Phu Quy's marine economy is also reflected in the local capacity of vessels with a total of 1,727 vessels, of which fishing vessels with a capacity of 90 CV or more have nearly 600 vessels, and vessels providing seafood purchasing and processing services have 137 vessels. Up to now, most of the large-capacity vessels in the district have installed voyage monitoring devices, except for a few cases that have not participated in fishing activities for many years. As an island district, the locality always pays attention to propaganda and coordinates with the Department of Fisheries to organize the appraisal of documents to support offshore fishing, or implement a number of fisheries development policies for fishermen according to the Government's Decisions and Decrees... Entering the second quarter of this year, the weather has been quite favorable, creating favorable conditions for vessels in the island district to go offshore to catch seafood with an output in April 2024 reaching over 4,710 tons, raising the output since the beginning of the year to more than 8,300 tons. In conjunction with seafood exploitation, the locality continues to strengthen investigation and strictly manage subjects capable of fishing with explosives, electric shocks, toxic substances and not allow violations of foreign waters to occur...

Recalling the past, every time we went from the mainland to Phu Quy for work or business, everyone had to prepare mentally for a "torture" trip with a 6-7 hour journey on an iron ship. At that time, the electricity source on the island district did not meet the daily needs and production - business of the people 24/24, commercial and service activities here were still lacking, even some essential goods also faced difficulties if the sea weather was rough for a long time...
Now it is completely different, Phu Quy's appearance has clearly improved with a fully guaranteed supply of diesel power and clean water, more and more townhouses are doing business in a variety of services, buying and selling all kinds of goods like in urban areas on the mainland. Through trade promotion, many businesses inside and outside the province are also looking for opportunities to connect and cooperate to expand the network of product and goods consumption in the island district... Coming to the pearl island on the occasion of April 30 - May 1, we heard the owner of a hotel in the center of Tam Thanh commune jokingly say: A while ago, there was a group of tourists from the southern industrial province joining the Phu Quy tour, but each young man's luggage was cumbersome with 2 crates of famous brand beer. When asked, we found out that the whole group thought that there was no beer sold here that connoisseurs like, but unexpectedly, when they just said "hello!", the agent on the island brought it to them at the same price as on the mainland.
Especially with the "smokeless industry", from the wild and windy place with an unfamiliar name, Phu Quy is now always one of the top choices of many tourists. With strong development in recent times, the island district has more than a hundred hotels, resorts, motels, homestays with about 1,200 rooms and is ready to welcome and serve thousands of visitors every day. Thanks to attracting many tourists, many households participating in business activities or raising fish in cages here have boldly opened restaurants, eateries, and services to serve customers with needs for cuisine, sports and entertainment on the sea, specialty gifts...
According to the island district government, Phu Quy will make the most of resources, thereby investing in building economic infrastructure, especially key and essential projects in the area. On the other hand, it will also step up propaganda, promotion, call for investment as well as support projects with non-budgetary capital to soon implement construction, complete, and put into effective operation. In particular, it will continue to focus on developing the marine economy in the following areas: Exploitation, aquaculture, purchasing - processing and exporting seafood, focusing on improving the quality of the Phu Quy - Phan Thiet transport route to serve tourism development, contributing to bringing the island district's economy to a worthy level.
This season, the sea is as calm as a lake, passengers on high-speed ferries say goodbye to Phu Quy and return to the mainland with lively stories about their journey to explore the remote island as well as the friendliness and affability of the people here. On the contrary, at the Phan Thiet wharf, there are still many people from all over the place waiting in long lines, eagerly waiting to board the modern ship to brave the waves to Phu Quy... Not far away, cargo ships are also urgently gathering to bring construction materials, machinery, equipment and all kinds of goods to serve the consumption needs of both locals and tourists to the sea and islands.
