With the affectionate name "the teacher who walks with his hands," the story of teacher Nguyen Kha Tuyen has spread the spirit of learning to many generations of students and communities in Phu Tho province.

In the arduous journey of "growing people", there are stories that not only contain knowledge but also shine as symbols of human determination and will.
Teacher Nguyen Kha Tuyen is a typical example. With the affectionate name "the teacher who walks with his hands," the story of teacher Tuyen has spread the spirit of learning to many generations of students and the community in Phu Tho province.
In 2008, Mr. Nguyen Kha Tuyen graduated from the Faculty of Literature Pedagogy (Tay Bac University) and returned to Vinh Phuc to work at Binh Xuyen Vocational Education - Continuing Education Center (now Binh Nguyen commune, Phu Tho province).
He got married and welcomed his first son at the end of 2009. Life was stable, but in 2010, tragedy suddenly struck his family. While helping a relative clean a water tank, he was electrocuted and fell into a critical condition, fell into a deep coma and was rushed to the 103 Military Hospital for emergency treatment.
After 10 days of treatment, he was transferred to the National Burn Institute and had to have both legs amputated. For nearly a year lying in bed, he had to endure physical and mental pain.

Those months were a long series of crises, but thinking of his wife and children, his parents' worries, and the help of his colleagues, he told himself he had to live on.
"It was so painful, everything seemed to collapse, but looking at my wife and relatives worrying about me, I knew that if I didn't try to overcome it, if I collapsed, I would owe them a huge debt that I could never repay. So I kept trying every day, every day," Mr. Tuyen shared.
Back home, he had to learn to walk like a child. He began to take his first steps on his prosthetic legs, which was a difficult and challenging task.
Recalling those days, Mr. Tuyen confided: "Every time I put on my prosthetic legs, I gritted my teeth and endured the pain as I crawled step by step. Gradually, I got used to being able to walk short distances, but I also realized the inconvenience and unsafety of walking with those legs. Once again, I had to find another way to move."
He had to give up his prosthetic legs and find a way to walk with his hands and a pair of plastic chairs - seemingly simple objects but most suitable for his body.
Thanks to persistent practice, he was able to take care of his own household and began to think about returning to teaching. He used a wheelchair for short trips and later bought a tricycle for the disabled, thanks to which he could go to school, go to the market, and travel long distances by himself.
Now, the tricycle and two plastic chairs are his "legs", and the podium is where he finds his passion and values in life again.
“I feel lucky to be alive and have my family by my side,” Mr. Tuyen shared.
A shining example
Overcoming the incident that seemed to put an end to his career, Mr. Tuyen has remained steadfast in his teaching profession for the past 17 years. The image of a “teacher walking with his hands” diligently on the podium has become a symbol of determination and dedication, deeply imprinted in the hearts of colleagues and generations of students at Binh Xuyen Vocational Education - Continuing Education Center.
His perseverance and silent dedication were recognized by many emulation titles of the Department of Education and Training of Vinh Phuc province (old), Certificate of Merit from the Chairman of the People's Committee of Binh Xuyen district (old) and the title of "Emulation Fighter at the grassroots level" for many consecutive years. That was not only a reward but also a respect for the extraordinary spirit of overcoming difficulties and the love for the profession of that special teacher.

Evaluating Mr. Tuyen's efforts over the years, Mr. Nguyen Huy Hung, Director of Binh Xuyen Vocational Education - Continuing Education Center, said that Mr. Tuyen is an example of perseverance.
Not only did he excel in his work as a homeroom teacher, he also did well in the Youth Union, was in charge of information technology, and the school counseling team.
In particular, students who have been trained by him have achieved high results and participated in the provincial excellent student competition team. With his enthusiasm and love for the profession, Mr. Tuyen deserves to be a role model for students and colleagues to follow.
The story of teacher Nguyen Kha Tuyen is one of the typical examples of teachers in the education sector.
The teacher's persistent dedication has touched the hearts of many people, becoming a source of inspiration spreading throughout the community, reminding each of us of the value of resilience and love of life./.
