For many years, the economy of Mr. Dinh Van Thi's family in Dong Tien village, Na Sam commune has mainly depended on small-scale agricultural production, with unstable income.
In 2024, from the capital source for implementing the project of diversifying livelihoods and developing a poverty reduction model, Mr. Thi's family received State support for economic development. Mr. Thi said: My family is near-poor. In 2024, the family received State support for 3 cows and cow feed. From State support resources, my family renovated the barn and prepared additional feed for the cows. Up to now, all 3 cows have grown and developed well, of which 1 cow has given birth. With this livestock model, it has created a livelihood, opening up opportunities for my family to escape near-poverty in 2025 and the following years.
Like Mr. Thi's family, with the initial support from the State, Mr. Hoang Van Len's family in Na Thang village, Tri Le commune has maintained and effectively promoted the production model. Mr. Len said: In 2023, my family was supported with 1 cow from the poverty reduction program. The initial support from the State has helped the family have more resources and motivation to care for and expand the cow raising model. Up to now, the family has maintained 4 breeding cows and sold 2 calves. From raising cows, the family has more resources to expand and care for 200 chestnut trees. Up to now, the family has escaped poverty.
Along with the two households mentioned above, in the period of 2021-2025, from the project capital for diversifying livelihoods and developing poverty reduction models under the National Target Program for Sustainable Poverty Reduction, many poor, near-poor and newly escaped poverty households in the province have been supported with resources to create livelihoods, build and replicate many suitable and effective production models.
Mr. Nguyen Huu Chien, Director of the Department of Agriculture and Environment, said: To improve the effectiveness of project implementation, relevant levels and sectors have implemented many specific solutions such as developing plans; assigning specific tasks to each agency and unit; mobilizing resources; promoting propaganda, support, and guiding people to participate in project implementation; proactively reviewing and evaluating reality, grasping the actual needs of people as well as climate conditions, land, raw material sources, etc. From there, choosing to support people in building suitable and effective production models with long-term stability.
In the 2021-2025 period, the total planned capital for implementing the project of diversifying livelihoods and developing poverty reduction models is over 150 billion VND, of which in the 2021-2024 period, relevant levels, sectors and units have supported people to implement 249 models, including 231 livestock models; 14 crop models, 4 forestry models with a total of 4,073 participating households, including 1,313 poor households, 1,845 near-poor households, 915 newly escaped poverty households. Thereby supporting livelihoods, contributing to creating jobs for over 3,500 workers and contributing to increasing average income from 30-50 million VND/household. In 2025, levels and sectors will continue to support people to implement 93 crop and livestock models.
The State's support resources and the people's cooperation and contribution in implementing the livelihood diversification project and developing the poverty reduction model have significantly contributed to the overall poverty reduction results in the province. In 2024, the poverty rate in the province will be 3.36% (in 2021 it will be 12.2%). In 2025, it is expected that the poverty rate in the province will be 1.36%.
With the results achieved in the past time, we believe that in the coming time, the implementation of poverty reduction projects in general, including the project of diversifying livelihoods and developing poverty reduction models will continue to be effective. Thereby contributing to the successful implementation of the poverty reduction target in the province.
