According to the VNA special correspondent, on the morning of November 17th, local time, at the Bayan Palace of the Royal Family in Kuwait City, Prime Minister Sheikh Ahmad Abdullah Al-Ahmad Al Sabah of Kuwait presided over the welcoming ceremony for Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and the high-level Vietnamese delegation on their official visit to Kuwait.

This marks the first visit by a Vietnamese Prime Minister to Kuwait in 16 years, as the two countries look forward to celebrating the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations in 2026.

At the Bayan Palace of the Kuwaiti Royal Family, demonstrating the importance placed on the visit, the Prime Minister of Kuwait, Sheikh Ahmad Abdullah Al-Ahmad Al Sabah, personally greeted Vietnamese Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh at the parking lot.

With a joyful welcome, Prime Minister Sheikh Ahmad Abdullah Al-Ahmad Al Sabah invited Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh to walk down the red carpet to the place of honor.

As the two prime ministers approached the place of honor before the national flags of their respective countries, the national anthems of Vietnam and Kuwait were played solemnly. The welcoming ceremony concluded with each side introducing the attendees to one another.

After nearly 50 years since their establishment (January 10, 1976 - January 10, 2026), Vietnam-Kuwait relations have developed well. The two countries maintain high-level visits, contacts, and bilateral cooperation mechanisms.

Kuwait is currently Vietnam's largest trading and investment partner among the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries. Bilateral trade reached US$7.3 billion in 2024.

Kuwait's largest investment project in Vietnam is the Nghi Son Refinery and Petrochemical Complex, with a total investment of $9 billion. Currently, the two countries have several cooperation agreements connecting local areas, such as Ho Chi Minh City and Ahmadi province, and Thanh Hoa province and Al Farwaniyh province.

During his visit to Kuwait, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh will hold talks and meetings with the Emir, Prime Minister, and Crown Prince of Kuwait; visit economic facilities, work with major Kuwaiti economic corporations, and deliver a policy speech at the Kuwait Diplomatic Academy.

Through these activities, the two sides will exchange views, agree on directions and measures, and determine a framework for deeper cooperation in the future; bringing bilateral relations to a new level.

In addition to strengthening political trust, both sides will promote the development of promising sectors such as oil and gas, energy, ensuring food security, products meeting Halal Islamic standards, opening direct flights, promoting trade, investment, tourism cooperation, business networking, and people-to-people exchanges…

The two countries will leverage their respective strengths to enable Vietnam to become a gateway for Kuwait to expand its market into Southeast Asia and neighboring regions, while Kuwait can help Vietnam access the Middle East and surrounding markets.

Both sides also demonstrated mutual support in international forums and multilateral mechanisms, contributing to stability, peace, cooperation, and prosperous development for both countries, both regions, and the world.
