This is the first time the National Great Unity Day has been organized in the Vietnamese community abroad to strengthen solidarity and promote the strength of the great national unity bloc.

On the occasion of the 95th anniversary of the Vietnam Fatherland Front's Traditional Day (November 18, 1930 - November 18, 2025), on November 16, the Consulate General of Vietnam in Fukuoka (Japan) coordinated with the Association of Vietnamese in Fukuoka (AVF) to organize the "National Great Unity Day in the Vietnamese community in Kyushu - Japan and the Vietnamese Sports Festival in Kyushu in 2025."
According to a VNA correspondent in Japan, this is the first time the National Great Unity Day has been organized in the overseas Vietnamese community to strengthen solidarity, gather and promote the strength of the national great unity bloc in the new period; at the same time, implementing the pilot project "National Great Unity Day in the overseas Vietnamese community" of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front (VFF).
The event was attended by Ms. Vu Chi Mai, Consul General of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam in Fukuoka; along with all officers and staff of the Consulate General; Mr. Nguyen Duy Anh, Member of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front, Chairman of the Vietnamese Association in Fukuoka, Principal of GAG Japanese Language School, Secretary General of the Global Network for Teaching Vietnamese Language and Vietnamese Culture; representatives of the International Department of Fukuoka Prefecture, the Japan - Vietnam Friendship Association in Fukuoka.
In her opening speech, Consul General Vu Chi Mai emphasized that the organization of the Great Unity Day and the Sports Festival aims to promote the tradition of great national unity, strengthen the strength of the Vietnamese community in Japan in general and the Kyushu region in particular; at the same time, promote the image of the country, people and culture of Vietnam to Japanese friends; combine cultural and sports exchanges, spread Vietnamese identity in Japan, contribute to building the Vietnamese community in Kyushu to be united, integrated, developed and oriented towards the homeland and country.
Organizing the Great Unity Day in Kyushu is not only a community activity, but also an opportunity to strengthen the strength of national unity and arouse national pride in each overseas Vietnamese.

The most touching highlight of the festival was the moment when more than 1,000 Vietnamese people simultaneously entered the formation, forming the Red Flag with a yellow star consisting of 3 large groups with 15 blocks representing 15 community components. Representatives of the Global Vietnamese Records Organization (VietWorld) awarded the record certificate for "The event of forming the Vietnamese national flag in Japan with the largest number of participants" to the Vietnamese Association in Fukuoka and the Vietnamese Consulate General in Fukuoka.
Expressing his emotion when witnessing the unprecedented gathering of the Vietnamese community in Kyushu, Mr. Nguyen Duy Anh - Member of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front, Head of the Festival Organizing Committee - said that the event was both an opportunity for the Vietnamese community to meet, exchange, and have fun, and also an opportunity to affirm the sacred thing: although living far away from the Fatherland, every Vietnamese person still carries the blood of Lac Hong, still keeps his heart towards the homeland. The flag is not only a symbol of Vietnam but also a symbol of solidarity, pride and community strength.
Mr. Nguyen Duy Anh affirmed that the annual Great Solidarity Day is not only a cultural event but also a place to strengthen friendship, connecting associations, businesses, families and the young generation, so that overseas Vietnamese can always find a common home.
Also at the event, the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front in coordination with the Consulate General of Vietnam in Fukuoka commended and rewarded collectives and individuals with outstanding achievements in community building, strengthening solidarity, developing the association movement and actively contributing to the preservation of Vietnamese culture and language in Japan.
The awards are to recognize the efforts of associations, businesses, volunteer groups and overseas Vietnamese individuals who have accompanied for many years, actively supporting the spiritual, legal, educational and cultural life of Vietnamese people in Kyushu. This is also an encouragement for the community to continue promoting the spirit of mutual love, building the image of civilized, affectionate, united and deeply integrated Vietnamese people in Japan.
The Sports Festival also attracted a large number of Vietnamese people to participate in tug of war, sack race, relay race, shuttlecock throwing, shuttlecock kicking and the 2nd Kyushu Football Tournament. Vietnamese food stalls and amusement parks created a bustling atmosphere throughout the event.
The Great National Unity Day in Kyushu 2025 is not only a large-scale community activity, but also a symbol of the Vietnamese spirit in Japan. From the national flag folded by 1,000 Vietnamese people to the loud cheers echoing in the sky of Fukuoka, the event left a strong impression of love for the homeland and the spirit of great national unity./.
