A serious landslide at Km45 Khanh Le Pass (Nam Khanh Vinh Commune) killed 6 people and injured 19 others at 10:30 p.m. on November 16. To respond promptly, throughout the night of November 16 to the morning of December 17, police, military , local authorities and people, despite difficulties and dangers, focused on solutions to find and bring the injured passengers out of the dangerous area and provide timely emergency care.

Due to landslides, authorities crossed the mountain to rescue injured passengers at Km45 Khanh Le pass.

Talking to reporters, Captain Nguyen Thanh Dat - an officer of Nam Khanh Vinh Commune Police said that at around 10:30 p.m. on November 16, immediately after receiving information about a passenger bus accident at Km45 Khanh Le Pass, the Commune Police immediately moved by car to approach the scene. However, due to heavy rain, when they reached Km43, rocks and soil slid down the road, and their car could not move. To get to the scene, the working group decided to walk over the mountain road for more than 2km to the scene of the accident.

" At the scene at that time, we saw the Phuong Trang passenger bus being crushed by 4 large rocks in the front and middle of the bus. Many passengers were trapped and calling for help. The working group took some victims out of the bus; some other victims were trapped and could not be taken out. We used tools to break the bus windows and brought the trapped passengers down from the 2nd floor. From Km 43 to Km 45, some cars that were stopped because of the landslide and could not move also participated in transporting the victims. We cut tree branches to make stretchers, used blankets on the bus to make stretchers to carry the victims onto the car and take them down to the camp. After that, we used stretchers to carry the victims out of the landslide area to the hospital," Captain Nguyen Thanh Dat recounted.

Major Cao Tan Huynh - Head of Nam Khanh Vinh Commune Police, who directly participated in the rescue of the passenger bus at Khanh Le Pass, shared that the biggest difficulty in the rescue was the late night, heavy rain, strong winds, and high risk of landslides on the dangerous mountain pass . But fortunately, many functional forces participated, and the drivers on the road cooperated to promptly take the victims to the emergency room.

Mr. Pham Ba Luan said that he was a car driver traveling from Da Lat to Dak Lak when he saw a Phuong Trang passenger bus in trouble, many people in the car were calling for help. “ From late at night until dawn, we and the authorities took many people down to the emergency room, by 5 am we were exhausted and could not go on. Luckily, at that time there were many other forces supporting us so the rescue was timely,” Mr. Luan recounted.

Similarly, Mr. Pham Minh Son, also a truck driver who participated in rescuing people on the passenger bus that had an accident, shared: " It was late at night, the rain and wind were very strong, although we were very worried about further landslides on the pass, the passenger drivers on the route all stopped regardless of the difficulties and dangers to rescue the passengers in the accident."

Lieutenant Colonel Bui Van Yen - Deputy Chief of Staff of the Provincial Military Command said that as soon as receiving information about the landslide and the passenger bus accident, the Provincial Military Command mobilized 30 officers and soldiers to directly coordinate with the Fire Prevention and Rescue Police and the Provincial Police to respond and move the injured victims 3km through the forest to the ambulance; at the same time, take the dead victims out of the area. Currently, the Provincial Military Command continues to mobilize 300 more officers and soldiers to be ready to participate in rescue when the province requests.

Thanks to the dedication, sense of responsibility, regardless of the rain and wind all night, and the timely rescue of the functional forces, local authorities and people, by noon on November 17, 6 victims were taken from the scene, 13 injured people were taken to the hospital for treatment.
