Carpentry is one of the strongly developing industries of the commune, concentrated mainly in Diec, Ve and Phan villages - where the profession has been preserved through many generations and created a unique local mark.
Mr. Do Tuan Hung in Ve Dong village has been a carpenter since he was a child. Having gone through many ups and downs of his hometown's carpentry profession, Mr. Hung has constantly researched and innovated to preserve the profession and make a living from it. Not only serving his family's production, Mr. Hung is also the main supplier of raw materials and purchaser of output products for many production households in the village and commune. Mr. Hung's facility regularly creates jobs for about 100 workers with an income of 5-10 million VND/person/month.
Mr. Hung shared: Our main products are beds, wardrobes, shelves, tables and chairs. Previously, I directly produced from sawing, wood mixing to finished products, but now I mainly import raw wood to sell to other local production facilities, then re-import raw products to complete and sell to consumers. Every year, through cooperation with other production facilities, I supply the market with thousands of products with a revenue of over 5 billion VND.

Although Phan village developed carpentry later than other villages, production activities here are quite vibrant. The village has over 30 production households concentrated on the outskirts of the village, along the DH.61 road. Currently, many types of machinery and equipment have been put into use such as: wood saws, planers, chisels, computerized chisels, etc.
Mr. Nguyen Van Tiep, Phan village said: Carpentry is a noisy and dusty profession, so moving production outside the village's residential area also helps limit negative impacts on people's lives. Our workshops are all located along Highway DH.61, so transportation is convenient, making it easy to transport raw materials and goods. Wooden products are all bulky, so if transportation is not convenient, it will be difficult to maintain and develop.

Along with carpentry, food processing is also maintained and developed, in which the famous profession is the production of dry rice paper in Me village (Me village rice paper). Me village currently has more than 130 households producing traditional dry rice paper, creating jobs for more than 300 workers. Thanks to the application of technology and the introduction of machinery into production, productivity has increased dozens of times compared to before, the products are also uniform and ensure quality and food hygiene and safety. On average, each household produces about 10 tons of commercial rice paper/month. The products are of good quality, so in addition to being consumed locally, they are also purchased by traders to consume in provinces and cities such as: Hanoi , Hai Phong, Quang Ninh, Bac Ninh...
Mr. Nguyen Van Tan, Me village shared: Currently, the profession of making dry rice paper takes place all year round with products diverse in designs, types and packaged in beautiful packaging,... Previously, using manual methods, each day working hard only produced more than 100 kg of dry rice paper. Since investing in machinery, the output has increased many times with less damage. After deducting all expenses, the family earns a profit of about 2-3 million VND/day.
Small-scale industrial production in Ngu Thien commune has many opportunities for development, because the people here have skills, experience and increasingly convenient transportation. The small-scale industrial sector accounts for the largest proportion in the economic structure. In the first 9 months of 2025, the value of small-scale industrial production reached over 1,800 billion VND, accounting for over 75% of the commune's production and business value.
Mr. To Van Tinh, Head of Economic Department of Ngu Thien commune said: Small-scale handicraft production households in the commune have gradually approached modern technology, machinery and equipment to increase productivity, quality and optimize costs. Some households have initially participated in promoting e-commerce, using social networks and digital platforms to promote and consume products. However, production activities are still fragmented, production linkages are still spontaneous and there is no model of organization and support, so the full potential has not been exploited. In the coming time, the department will consult with the commune to have appropriate support solutions to promote production, strengthen linkages as well as build and develop brands and trademarks.
