PSG dominates nominations for 2025 Ballon d'Or

France Football magazine officially announced the list of 30 candidates for the 2025 Ballon d'Or award, marking the 69th edition of the annual event honoring the world's best players in the 2024/25 season.

The 2025 Ballon d'Or race is still wide open.

On the evening of August 7, the list of 30 candidates for this award was announced by a French magazine. In the list of nominees for the 2025 Ballon d'Or, it is easy to see the names with a high possibility of winning the award such as Ousmane Dembele and Vitinha of Paris Saint-Germain, Cole Palmer of Chelsea, Raphinha and Lamine Yamal of Barcelona, Mohamed Salah of Liverpool and Kylian Mbappe of Real Madrid.

In addition, the list of 30 names also includes other candidates such as Vinicius Jr, Jude Bellingham (Real Madrid), Nuno Mendes, Fabian Ruiz, Joao Neves, Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, Désiré Doué, Achraf Hakimi, Gianluigi Donnarumma (PSG), Declan Rice, Viktor Gyökeres (Arsenal), Erling Haaland (Man City), Serhou Guirassy (Dortmund), Lautaro Martinez, Denzel Dumfries (Inter Milan), Michael Olise, Harry Kane (Bayern), Pedri, Robert Lewandowski (Barcelona), Scott McTominay (Napoli), Florian Wirtz, Van Dijk, Alexis Mac Allister (Liverpool).

This year's nomination list is notable for the appearance of Scott McTominay, a Scottish midfielder who plays for Napoli. After leaving Manchester United in the summer of 2024, McTominay exploded with 13 goals and 6 assists, helping Napoli win the Scudetto for the 4th time and was named Serie A Player of the Year 2024/25. Viktor Gyökeres (Sporting/Arsenal) is also another name that attracts attention.

PSG dominates the nominations, with 11 names present. According to Opta , Dembele is the number one candidate for the 2025 Ballon d'Or. However, The Times commented that the competition for the 2025 Ballon d'Or is the most unpredictable in the past 30 years.

The award ceremony is scheduled to take place at the Chatelet Theatre in Paris on September 22. This is the next year the award will be judged on achievements over a season, running from August 1, 2024 to July 31, 2025, instead of following a full calendar year as before.
