PVF-CAND won the National U21 Championship for the first time in 2023

Before the match, U21 SLNA was rated higher than U21 PVF-CAND because it had some famous players in the squad such as Le Nguyen Hoang, Dinh Xuan Tien and Nguyen Van Viet.

U21 SLNA attacked right after the opening whistle, continuously causing trouble for the opponent's goal. The first notable situation was in the 17th minute, Dinh Xuan Tien stole the ball in front of the U21 PVF-CAND penalty area before curling the ball with his right foot. However, the ball hit the junction between the crossbar and the post.

However, SLNA fans did not have to wait long, they opened the scoring 5 minutes later after Dinh Xuan Tien's situation. Taking a free kick outside the PVF-CAND penalty area, Nguyen Quang Vinh Anh passed the ball to his teammate but the ball unexpectedly swerved into the goal, leaving goalkeeper Nguyen Quang Truong helpless.

In the 37th minute, Quang Vinh had a chance to score a double. However, the player wearing the number 18 shirt missed the target in a favorable position. On the other side, Nguyen Gia Bao almost equalized if his close-range header was more dangerous.

In the second half, U21 PVF-CAND pressed forward to attack, controlled the ball better and created many opportunities. The team's efforts were rewarded in the 65th minute when Nguyen Phuong Nam headed the ball into the penalty area from a corner kick on the left wing, accurately equalizing the score.

In the 71st minute, Phung Quang Tung almost scored to help U21 PVF-CAND make a comeback. However, the ball hit the post after his shot.

The two teams decided the winner on penalties. U21 PVF-CAND won 5-4 against U21 SLNA to win the National U21 Championship for the first time.
