After more than 5 years of implementing the program "Vietnam Navy as a fulcrum for fishermen to go offshore and stick to the sea", the Navy has proactively compiled, printed and distributed 230,800 leaflets, brochures, 60 sets of documents for propaganda work; sent over 2,000 experienced reporters directly to fishing ports, ship locks, and anchorage areas to inform and propagate to over 390,000 ship owners and fishermen about their responsibilities in protecting sea and island sovereignty and complying with legal regulations in fishing.

Not only is the core force in protecting the sovereignty of the sea and islands, the Navy is also a spiritual support and a solid support for fishermen in the middle of the ocean. From 2019 to now, the Navy has mobilized 1,140 vehicles, with nearly 40,000 officers and soldiers participating in rescue operations in seas, islands and areas of natural disasters, storms and floods. 2,228 people and 529 ships and boats have been rescued. Over 3,000 cubic meters of fresh water, hundreds of tons of food, life jackets, and fishing equipment have been provided; free medical examination and treatment has been organized for tens of thousands of fishermen; hundreds of houses of gratitude and solidarity have been built and repaired, and given to households in difficult circumstances.

Along with that, the Navy has coordinated with functional forces and localities to effectively and synchronously implement many solutions to promote the role of fishermen participating in activities to protect sovereignty over seas and islands, such as participating in training and exercises with the Navy at sea; participating in protecting our drilling rigs and survey vessels; fighting against foreign countries illegally exploring, surveying, and placing drilling rigs in Vietnam's waters...

In particular, the activity "Navy sponsors fishermen's children" deployed from 2022 to present has become a typical model, with political and social significance, profound humanity, close military-civilian solidarity, continuing to affirm the nature and noble tradition of "Uncle Ho's soldiers - Navy soldiers" in the new era in the hearts of the people. After only 3 years of implementation, the Navy has coordinated with local authorities to sponsor and care for 164 orphaned fishermen's children, children in difficult circumstances until adulthood, opening up a bright future and adding confidence to each fishing trip of fishermen.

Speaking at the conference, Vice Admiral Nguyen An Phong emphasized: The Navy's coordination with coastal provinces and cities to implement the program "Vietnam Navy as a fulcrum for fishermen to go offshore and stick to the sea", the activity "Navy sponsoring fishermen's children" is a correct and creative policy; an activity with political and social significance and profound humanity, effective, with great influence. It is a vivid demonstration of the spirit of "Military and people with one will" in the new era.

The Navy Political Commissar also requested that in the coming time, in order to improve the results of leadership, direction and coordination in implementing the Program and Activities between the Navy and 21 coastal provinces and cities, agencies and units need to step up the quality and effectiveness of propaganda coordination with coastal localities and functional forces to regularly maintain forces and means ready for combat in sea areas, especially key sea areas, sea areas bordering foreign countries, ready to support and help fishermen exploit aquatic products in accordance with the law. In particular, continue to coordinate with local departments, branches and sectors, directly the Department of Agriculture and Environment, Department of Health, Military Command of coastal provinces and cities to successfully implement the contents of the Program and Activities in the coming time.
