
According to the Vietnam News Agency correspondent in Oceania, the ceremony for receiving the Letters of Credence was held solemnly in Avarua, the capital of Rarotonga Island, with the participation of officials from the Office of the British King Charles III, the Government, and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Immigration of the Cook Islands.
At the ceremony, the UK King Charles III's Representative in the Cook Islands, Sir Tom Marsters, highly appreciated the fact that the Cook Islands and Vietnam officially established diplomatic relations in April 2022, shaping a long-term vision for the friendship and cooperation between the two countries.
Expressing his admiration for Vietnam's development achievements and appreciating its increasingly important role and position in the region and internationally, Mr. Tom Marsters affirmed that the Cook Islands values its relationship with Vietnam, and is committed to jointly cultivating and deepening cooperation between the two countries in priority areas of mutual interest, making positive contributions to ensuring peace , stability, and sustainable economic development.
Speaking at the ceremony, Ambassador Phan Minh Giang expressed his honor in assuming the responsibility of Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Vietnam to the Cook Islands, and affirmed that he would make every effort to contribute to promoting the friendly relations and cooperation between the two countries in areas of mutual interest and strength, as well as strengthening coordination and mutual support in regional and international multilateral forums.

During his visit to present his credentials, Ambassador Phan Minh Giang held meetings and working sessions with representatives from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Immigration, the Ministry of Agriculture , the Ministry of Marine Resources, the Cook Islands Tourism Authority, the Cook Islands Chamber of Commerce, and also met with several local businesses to discuss directions and measures to exploit the potential and opportunities for enhanced cooperation between the two countries.
The Cook Islands are an archipelago nation in the South Pacific, with a population of approximately 26,000 people, comprising 15 islands, with a total land area of about 240 km2 and a sea area spanning 2.2 million km2. Vietnam and the Cook Islands officially established diplomatic relations on April 26, 2022.
