The army maintains forces ready to respond to storm No. 12.

On the evening of October 20, the Office of the National Civil Defense Steering Committee informed that as of the same afternoon, the Border Guard forces of coastal provinces and cities from Quang Ninh to Lam Dong had coordinated to notify, count, and guide 67,937 vehicles/291,864 people to know the developments and direction of storm No. 12 to proactively move around and escape from the dangerous area.

Army units maintain nearly 12,400 officers and soldiers on active duty, militia and self-defense forces, and many types of vehicles ready to respond to situations.

On the afternoon of October 19, at Hamlet 5, My Ngai Ward, Dong Thap Province, a landslide occurred ^{on 2} banks of Tien River (length 65m, width nearly 9m) due to rising tides combined with floodwaters creating an underground vortex. Regiment 9 (Division 8, Military Region 9) quickly mobilized 50 officers and soldiers to join the local forces to overcome the consequences.
