On the afternoon of October 17, at the Government headquarters, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh received the Commander-in-Chief of the Royal Cambodian Army, General Vong Pisen, and the Royal Cambodian Army delegation on an official visit to Vietnam, the Government Newspaper reported.
Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and the Commander-in-Chief of the Royal Cambodian Army affirmed that Vietnam and Cambodia are two neighboring countries with a good traditional friendship. The armies and peoples of the two countries have stood shoulder to shoulder in the struggle against colonialism and imperialism, overthrowing the Pol Pot genocidal regime, bringing independence, freedom and happiness to the people of each country.
Informing the Commander-in-Chief of the Royal Cambodian Army about Vietnam's foreign policy and "4 no's" defense policy, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh affirmed that Vietnam always attaches importance to and gives top priority to continuously consolidating and developing the good neighborly relationship, traditional friendship, comprehensive cooperation, long-term sustainability with Cambodia; always supports an independent, self-reliant, peaceful, prosperous Cambodia that plays an increasingly greater role in the international arena.
Informing the Prime Minister about the results of the talks between the two delegations of the Vietnamese Ministry of National Defense and the Royal Cambodian Army on the same day, the Commander-in-Chief of the Royal Cambodian Army highly agreed with the Prime Minister's opinions; at the same time, he affirmed that the Cambodian Army will strengthen coordination with the Vietnamese Army, continue to effectively implement cooperation activities, making an important contribution to the good development of the comprehensive and sustainable friendship and cooperation between Vietnam and Cambodia.
In particular, strengthening the building of trust, effectiveness and practical relations between the two countries' armies; promptly coordinating and advising with senior leaders and the two countries' Ministries of National Defense on military and defense issues. In particular, coordinating to build a peaceful, friendly, cooperative and developing border, bringing benefits to the people of the two countries, especially along the border.
On this occasion, the Commander-in-Chief of the Royal Cambodian Army conveyed the best regards and congratulations from Samdech Techo, President of the CPP Hun Sen, and Samdech Thipadei, Prime Minister Hun Manet, to Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh.
Delighted with the good relations between the two armies and welcoming the results of the talks between the two delegations, the Prime Minister highly appreciated the coordination between the agencies and units of the two sides, from sharing common perceptions on strategic issues; training cadres at all levels; cooperating in border protection, supporting people in border areas to develop their economy and society; coordinating and supporting each other at multilateral forums and mechanisms.
The head of the Vietnamese Government hopes that the armies of the two countries must take the lead in preserving and nurturing the good Vietnam-Cambodia relationship, preventing plots to divide the solidarity between Vietnam, Cambodia and Laos; and promoting cooperation in all fields.
These include training human resources; continuing to increase information and situation exchange; strengthening education on the tradition of solidarity and the noble sacrifices of the two countries' armies and people; exchanging experiences; and effectively handling outstanding and arising issues at the grassroots level.
The Prime Minister suggested that the two sides promote exchange activities, coordinate patrols, protect the border and border markers, and prevent cross-border crimes; thereby contributing to maintaining security and order in border areas, promoting trade and people-to-people exchanges in border areas, and building a border of peace, friendship, cooperation and development.
On this occasion, through General Vong Pisen, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh conveyed his regards and best wishes to Samdech Techo, President of the CPP Hun Sen, Samdech Thipadei, Prime Minister Hun Manet, and other senior leaders and former leaders of the Kingdom of Cambodia.
