Southeast Asian fans react after Vietnam women's team's big win

(Dan Tri) - Many Southeast Asian fans had mixed reactions after the opening match of the Vietnamese and Indonesian women's teams in the group stage of the 2025 AFF Cup at Lach Tray Stadium (Hai Phong) on the evening of August 6.

Vietnam women's team won 6-0 against Cambodia team

"Vietnam women's team is a good team. They are good for both the women's and men's teams. Cambodia has only recently made progress but cannot stop Vietnam from winning," Votthy Sothea Bun Seth from Cambodia expressed on Asean Football after witnessing his team lose 0-6 to Vietnam women's team in the opening match of Group A at the 2025 AFF Cup.

In just 17 minutes, the Vietnamese women's team poured "rain of goals" into the Cambodian women's team's net with a difference of 4 goals. Scoring so easily made the Vietnamese women's team no longer put much pressure on their opponents in the remaining minutes of the first half to save energy for the next match with Indonesia.

However, coach Mai Duc Chung and his team still managed to score two more goals in the second half and helped the Vietnamese women's team win 6-0.

"Losing 0-6 is not too bad, because the Vietnamese women's team has participated in the World Cup while Cambodia only played in the Asian Cup qualifiers," said Cambodian account Veasna Nan.

"The class is too different. The victory of the Vietnamese women's team was predicted," said Roengritt Pho-noeng.

Notably, in the remaining match of Group A, the Thai women's team also won a resounding 7-0 victory over Indonesia to take the lead in the group due to a better goal difference than the Vietnamese women's team.

The performance of the Indonesian women's team was a big disappointment when the team called up 3 naturalized players of Dutch origin with the determination to surprise the Thai and Vietnamese teams.

"The Indonesian women's team is even worse than Cambodia when they conceded 7 goals against Thailand. This shows that Indonesian women's football is far behind in Southeast Asia. Hopefully the Indonesian Football Federation will strongly reform," said Siti Fatimah, a disappointed Indonesian account.

"The Thai women's team is truly the number one team in Southeast Asia when they made Indonesia suffer a humiliating defeat with 7 goals to nil. They only used domestic players, even though Indonesia has 3 naturalized players," said Jonet Reborn from Singapore.

"The Vietnamese and Thai women's teams are the two strongest teams in Southeast Asia. It is predicted that the final match of the 2025 AFF Cup will be between these two teams only," affirmed Hisamudin Yasin from Indonesia.
