This coming September, the film will premiere at the 50th Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) in the Special Presentations category, which is not in competition. This is one of the world 's largest film festivals, gathering many famous works and stars of the 7th art industry.

The TIFF website introduces the 140-minute Ky Nam Inn , set in Ho Chi Minh City in the 1980s, revolving around a young translator (played by Lien Binh Phat) and an elderly widow (Do Hai Yen) who find comfort in each other. The selection committee assessed this as a delicate and gentle work by Leon Le, and at the same time introduced the two main actors with their international works. In which, Lien Binh Phat is mentioned with Doctor in exile and Do Hai Yen with Silent American. This is also the return of the actress after 8 years of not participating in any project.
Quan Ky Nam also marks the return of collaboration between Leon Le and screenwriter Nguyen Thi Minh Ngoc, director of photography Bob Nguyen and composer Ton That An after Song Lang .
In the Special Presentations category with Quan Ky Nam are outstanding projects, including A Pale View of Hills adapted from the novel Pale View of Hills by Nobel Prize winner Kazuo Ishiguro, Couture starring Angelina Jolie, two "familiar" filmmakers at the Oscars Baz Luhrmann ( EPiC: Elvis Presley in Concert ) and Guillermo del Toro ( Frankenstein ) will also participate.
