On March 7, Vladimir Rogov, Chairman of the We Are With Russia movement, told TASS that Russian troops had captured four Ukrainian strongholds in the Zaporozhie direction on March 6.
“Over the past 24 hours, Russian troops have seized four strategic strongholds of the Ukrainian army in the area between Robotyne and Verbovoye,” the politician said.
Battles are continuing in the Robotyne settlement, Vladimir Rogov added, noting that Russian troops are controlling the southern part of the settlement while Kiev forces are withdrawing from the northern part.
“Major battles are raging in the ruins of a school and near the cultural house while the central area remains a grey zone,” Mr. Rogov added.
According to the politician, Kiev forces continue to send manpower and equipment, including heavy weapons, towards Zaporozhye. They are also using suicide and reconnaissance drones on a large scale to stop the Russian army's advance.
On March 6 and 7, Russian sources shared several videos showing the Russian military using suicide drones and artillery to target positions and equipment of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in the Zaporozhye direction. One of the airstrikes destroyed the US-made AN/TPQ-36 counter-battery radar.
In the Zaporozhie direction, Robotyne and Verbovoye are two towns that Kiev forces successfully entered during the spring counteroffensive of 2023.
If the Russians succeed in taking control of these two towns, they will deal a major psychological and tactical blow to the Ukrainian Armed Forces in Zaporozhye. The failure of the Ukrainian army to advance in this direction during the spring counteroffensive last year was seen as a disappointment.
Also on March 7, AVP reported that Russian troops had advanced 700 meters west of Orlovka. Orlovka is an important logistics center for supplying manpower and equipment to the Ukrainian garrison in Avdiivka. The loss of control over Orlovka is a major blow to the Ukrainian Armed Forces.
Thanks to the successful offensive, the Russian army captured the Pansky and Zoryansky reservoirs as well as the surrounding territories. Another important thing was the retreat of Ukrainian units from Orlovka towards Umansky, opening the way for the Russian army to advance further west.
