The ceremony was chaired by Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Vo Phien, with the participation of more than 200 outstanding intellectuals, representing more than 48,000 people with university degrees or higher living and working in Quang Ngai .
Speaking at the event, Mr. Phien emphasized that Vietnam Science and Technology Day is not only an occasion to express gratitude but also an opportunity to review the effectiveness of the application of science and technology into practice for sustainable development. Quang Ngai province identifies science and technology as one of three strategic breakthroughs, clearly shown in important resolutions of the Central Committee such as Resolution 57-NQ/TW, Resolution 71/NQ-CP. The province has also proactively attracted intellectuals from Quang Ngai who are studying and working elsewhere to return to contribute their knowledge to their homeland.
Emphasizing the role of young intellectuals in the digital transformation period, Mr. Phien called for promoting the strong connection between the "4 houses" (State, School, Scientists , and Enterprises) to spread innovation and improve the effectiveness of science and technology application. "Intellectuals are the precious capital of the nation, the quintessence of the era. In the digital age, knowledge and technology are the decisive factors in national competitiveness and position," said Mr. Phien.
Currently, Quang Ngai has more than 1,500 people working intensively in research and technology development; nearly 100 PhDs, 60 postgraduates, more than 2,700 masters; and many teachers and doctors who have been awarded excellent titles. Of these, more than 31,000 people work in state agencies, political organizations and enterprises.
Earlier, in his opening speech at the event, Mr. Le Quang Thich, Chairman of the Provincial Union of Science and Technology Associations, emphasized the key role of science and technology in the industrialization and modernization process. The team of science and technology intellectuals in Quang Ngai is increasingly growing in both quantity and quality, contributing positively to production, education, health care, cultural preservation and administrative innovation.
In addition to its honoring meaning, the ceremony is also an opportunity for scientists and managers to exchange and share research results, initiatives and experiences, while promoting the connection between research institutions, universities with businesses and local authorities.
On this occasion, the Provincial People's Committee awarded Certificates of Merit to 6 outstanding intellectuals for their outstanding achievements in research and application of science and technology, contributing positively to the local socio-economic development. Among them was Prof. Dr. Vo Xuan Vinh, Director of the Institute of Business Research, Ho Chi Minh City University of Economics.
